Lushescapes Climbathon For 8 days, we will embark on an adventure that will push your boundaries, strengthen your resolve, and put your stamina to the ultimate test.

Lushescapes' team of experts has put together an extensive training program together with Fitness First to ensure that the experience is as comfortable as possible. Not only do we fly you in to Kilimanjaro and back, but the team's on ground facilities provide you with detailed services like luxury tents, skilled guides, gourmet cooks and efficient porters. The idea is to have you end your journey

victorious, and in as little pain, and as much luxury, as possible. What we can’t protect you from is a throbbing back from the many heartwarming congratulatory pats. It is part of the culture at Lushescapes to do our bit in bettering life in the communities we travel to. With this in aim in mind, Trekking for a Cause (TFAC) was set up to raise funds for the less fortunate in the areas we visit. As part of the Kili Climbathon, each member will have the opportunity to participate in exciting fundraising activities where proceeds will be donated to the Amani Children's Home in Tanzania.

The air will be extremely dry above 12,000 ft. (3,650 M), and to retain water you must avoid panting by breathing through your nose as much as possible, and minimize sweating by removing layers of clothing. You’ll need to sip fluids frequently, and monitor your urine, which should be fairly copious and mostly clear in color.

The Umbwe route is a short, steep and direct route. It is considered to be very difficult and is the most challenging way up Mount Kilimanjaro. Due to the quick ascent, Umbwe does not provide the necessary stages for altitude acclimatization. Although the traffic on this route is very low, the chances of success are also low. The Umbwe route should only be attempted by those who are very strong hikers and are confident in their ability to acclimatize.

Staying hydrated at high altitude is one of the most important factors which determine how you will fare over the course of the trek. Dehydration is one of the more subtle and dangerous afflictions of being at high altitude. You should consider drinking at least 4-5 liters of water per day in order to keep yourself hydrated. This figure can be attained by the sum of your total food and drink throughout the day.

Cameras need to be protected against the severe cold weather either in warm pouch or the interior pockets of your clothing. Do not keep in your backpack at higher elevations. A selection of lenses will aid the final results although weight and bulk will obviously influence your selection. A polarized or neutral density filter is recommended, as is slide film rather than print.

The Shira route is another path that approaches Kilimanjaro from the west, and it is nearly identical to the Lemosho route. Climbers begin their hike from 11,800 feet (3,600 m) and spend their first night at the same elevation at Simba Camp. Then, the route merges with Lemosho and follows the southern circuit route.
