Sometimes I think Maaren Buss (Plepa and Unaza routes) deliberately waits until I'm away to drop new buses. This funky little green number certainly wasn't in service when I left town in May.

Does anyone know when it first appeared?

Hi everyone,
Over the last three months, I've been working on an update to the Durrës by Bus website. The current version only shows local routes, but this update will also collect routes for regional and intercity buses and add pages on Airport transfers and Durrës Bus Stations.

Due to time constraints, I postponed adding information on monthly bus passes, but I'll put them in the next update (I only know about one company's pass anyway). There are plenty more routes that need adding, but I'll get around to that when I'm back in September.

I made a change to the local bus route page because having all the maps open at once made scrolling difficult. The maps are now behind a dropdown panel, so you only need to open the one for the route you want to travel on. Feedback on whether these changes improve usability would be welcome.

Also, if there are any Albanian or Italian viewers, don't hesitate to point out if the translations are poor.

I look forward to your comments and observations.

Don't bookmark this site! When I'm finished testing it, it will replace the current one at durresbybus.com.

Howdy, Bus Lovers!

A few weeks ago, I had a meeting with the Bashkia (city administration), to discuss the possibility of them integrating the Durrës by Bus website into their own Bashkia website. Unsurprisingly, I didn't hear any more from them, but I notice that they have updated their own 'Transporti-Publik' page with details of the five most frequented local routes.

Weirdly, their timetables bear no relation to the known running times when I left: according to them, the Durrës>Plazh>Plepa bus is running from 5am until 11pm, and the Currila bus is from 7am to 9pm

Can anyone verify those times, or has someone at the Bashkia got severe sunstroke?

The latest update, with regional, intercity and airport routes is nearly complete, but I'm still undecided about how it should look. Should it remain bare and functional , look kind of funky, like the page banner, or sport a retro feel, like a 1920s world tour poster?

Durrës by Bus is Expanding – Looking for Community Support

Hi everyone, it's Keith from Durrës by Bus.

At the end of 2024, I built the Durrës by Bus website to make life easier for expats and visitors navigating the city. So far, it’s focused on inner-city routes, but after speaking with the local tourist board, I’m now expanding it significantly — adding intercity routes, airport shuttles, the two bus stations with transfer info, bus passes, and more. I’m aiming to have the first big update ready by the end of this month.

Until now, I’ve covered all the costs (time, hosting, domain, etc.) myself, but the upcoming upgrades and ongoing maintenance require more resources than I can sustain alone. So I’ve set up a Ko-fi page for anyone who finds the site useful and wants to support it. Even a small tip would make a real difference. Your support will help fund:
1) The expensive PRO version of the WordPress mapping plugin (which fixes the annoying map scrolling issue many of you have mentioned on mobile)
2) Continued expansion and improvements

If you use the site regularly, I’d really appreciate it if you could chip in — whether it’s a one-off coffee or becoming a monthly supporter. Every contribution helps keep the site free, independent, and getting better.

Thank you / Faleminderit shumë / Grazie mille 🙏

=========================== MORE BUS UPDATES ===========================

I've just added the route to RInia, which I'd actually overlooked when I first started logging bus routes in 2024. This small village is up on the North coast, past Porto Romano, and right by the 'Keneta e Durrësit', a marshy area that leads to the beach. If anyone was looking to visit and wander the coastline cheaply (100 LEK) then this is one way to do it. Be aware, however, that the last returning bus is at 16:30 and it's a hell of a way to walk back :)

I've also finally made the Albanian (shqip) page live. I put it off for so long as I was unsatisfied with the AI translation but it's unlikely to get fixed anytime soon so hopefully it will suffice.

University route coming soon.

ROUTE BUTTONS ADDED

Hi there, bus lovers! Today, I added buttons at the top of the website page so users can automatically jump to the route of their choice. This should make things slightly easier if you're regularly consulting the map of a route further down the page, e.g., Golem, and find it awkward to scroll past all the other maps.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PLEASE COMMENT HERE IF THESE BUTTONS DETRACT FROM THE SITE'S USEFULNESS OR DON'T WORK AS EXPECTED, ETC.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm also hoping to add a couple of extra routes in the next week or two, namely Universiteti and RInia.
