💜 KANGATRAINING PADBURY, GREENWOOD AND SURROUNDS 💜
Term 3 registrations now open!

What is Kangatraining?
Kangatraining is a postnatal safe, full body workout during which both cardiovascular endurance and muscular strength are enhanced. All our classes are designed by woman’s health physiotherapists, midwives and babywearing consultants to look after your baby and your postnatal body, even those mums with abdominal separation. Special consideration is taken to protect the pelvic floor in all classes.

No need for a babysitter, crèche or minding an unsettled baby during class as their baby is worn on them in a baby carrier and get to take part in all the fun! Bubs usually have a good sleep during class and everything including your toddlers are welcome to attend.

Come and have some self care time and meet other local mums in a fun, safe, supportive, and relaxed environment.

Who can Kanga?
Everyone is welcome at Kanga. Mum just needs to be at least 6 weeks post vaginal birth or 12 weeks post c-section birth and have clearance to exercise by your health professional to start classes.

Perfect for mums with babies and/or toddlers. Free carrier hire available.

Term 3 kicks off on Thursday 15th October and is a ten week term!

Registrations for classes now open:

I’m going to say it… big kids still need to be close too! 💜

But why is it completely acceptable to carry a bigger child in your arms…

…but when that same child is in a carrier, suddenly we get the looks and comments?

“Can’t they walk?”
“They’re too big for you.”
“Why are you still carrying them?”

The funny thing is… the carrier is actually supporting my body so much better than carrying them in my arms.

Instead of a bigger child hanging off my hip, being held on one side or carried in front of me, the carrier distributes their weight across my body and gives me much more support.

And sometimes big kids need to be carried.

Tired legs
Disregulation
Sickness
Big feelings
A need for closeness
Changes and uncertainty
Or simply… needing Mum

And for children with additional needs, including disability, neurodivergence or sensory differences, being carried can also provide connection, regulation, comfort and a safe place when the world feels like too much.

It’s not all day.
It’s not every day.
And it doesn’t mean they can’t walk.

It also doesn’t mean they’ll never learn to walk.

Carrying a child when they need it doesn’t take away their opportunity to walk, explore and develop their independence.

It’s simply another tool in our parenting toolkit for the moments they need a little extra support.

So why do we question the carrier when we’d happily accept the exact same child being carried in arms?

Let’s normalise carrying our big kids. 💜

And if seeing big kids in carriers isn’t for you, that’s okay too. You’re always welcome to unfollow.

I’ll keep sharing the real, messy, beautiful parts of parenting and the ways babywearing can support connection throughout the big kid years too.

Because sometimes keeping our big kids close is exactly what they need.

From the very beginning, babywearing has been part of our journey. 💜

From those newborn days when she needed to be close, to naps on the go, adventures that a pram couldn’t take us on, and those moments when I needed to care for her big brother while still keeping my newborn close.

Babywearing has given us so many opportunities to connect, be close, explore the world together and simply… be together.

And now, looking back at these photos, I can see just how much we’ve grown together. 🥹

Babywearing really is so much more than getting your baby from A to B.

Babywearing and movement can be a beautiful way to stay connected with your baby while supporting your own wellbeing, but exercising while babywearing is about more than simply putting on a carrier and starting a workout.

A carrier is a tool that supports you and your baby, but..
✨ the way you move
✨ the position your baby is in
✨ the type of carrier you use
✨ your own postnatal recovery
… all play an important role in creating a safe experience.

The goal isn’t just to complete a workout, it’s to move in a way that supports two bodies at once and keeps your most precious cargo safe 👶

Over this series, we’ll explore the key safety considerations to help families understand what makes babywearing exercise safe, supportive and enjoyable 💜

Safe movement starts with safe positioning. And know that in Kangatraining your baby’s safety is our biggest concern and we can help!
