Bigurda Trail, Kalbarri, WA

So after our day at the Kalbarri NP gorges it was time to hit the coastline, Jacob and I were pumped up to do more hiking and discussed the holidays we would go on just us where we could hike for a week and do unlimited adventuring😜

We chose the 4km stretch of the Bigurda trail from grandstand to natural bridge

This took us about 2 hours, the trail was on the edge of the cliff for more than half the way which gave us an opportunity to whale watch, dolphins seek and take in the sound of roaring waves 🌊

Also questioning if we could make our way to the base of the cliff for a fish one day and how we would get back up πŸ˜“

The length of the walk became a little draining for J at one point, I noticed it was just before half way so I tried some different strategies to build that resilience and we pushed through with a spring in our step. Love watching him grow and since then he’s only got more invested in big bold treks.

I could have gone the rest of the tracks 4km although there was too much to see and do in this beautiful stretch of the coastline - we stopped in at Red Rock on the way back for some more stunning hues within the natural landscape ❀️

Kalbarri National Park, Kalbarri, WA

Well what can I say? What you’re seeing doesn’t even do it justice, the rivers, creeks, gorges, trails, colours throughout the rock, rock formations, vegetation, trees, windows it’s all unfathomably surreal when being in that space 🌳

So impressed with the kids walking up trails and just enjoying the day exploring the Skywalk, Natures Window, Z bend, and especially the 2.5km return Zbend trail which was a Class 4 hike πŸ₯Ύ

The water was freezing but I was not going to miss the opportunity to dive in - I do love an ice cold dip πŸ₯Ά

Kalbarri, WA

Straight to the TOP 5 list in Australia! Absolute GemπŸ’Ž

Kalbarri has everything from gorges, cliff faces, whales, fishing, lobsters, boating, farm stays, hiking, coast walks, bush walks, snorkelling πŸ₯Ύ

We didn’t have much time here, to be honest we thought 2 days would be enough but it quickly turned to 4 and it still wasn’t!

These are some of our best moments where the sea meets the rugged outback and one of the most unique national parks in Australia 🐳

At the time the town was still recovering from Cyclone Seroja in 2021 and thrives on tourism, so add it to your bucket list as you won’t regret it!

I can’t wait to get back!

Winter in WA -2023 Edition 😜

Horrocks Beach, WA

Future holiday incoming at Horrocks Beach, what a sleepy little seaside gem she is πŸ’Ž

Nestled far enough from the main highway that it’s easily missed. We chatted to some locals who go out and check their lobster pots for dinner most days 🦞

We all enjoyed our afternoon on the beach, watching a school of mullet jumping around the inner reef as the tide came in, kids built a pool for the starfish they found close in on the rocks and Lauren practised being a mermaid πŸ§œβ€β™€οΈ

The town is soooo laid back we planned to have fish and chips on the beach but got their just before siesta time πŸ’€ truly a sleepy little village, the European in me made it feel like home πŸ’™

To top it off I got to have a meeting sitting on the bullbar overlooking the water, it was a pretty epic day, just a shame we forgot our snorkelling gear as it was the first time in the WA ocean 🏝️

Out from the clouds ⛅️

We talk a lot about cloud cover where I work as we use satellite data to inform our science πŸ›°οΈ

We use different layers and masks to create perspective and get rid of any noise from the clouds where we can get the best outcome from the data.. did I say I love my job 😜🌱 πŸ‚ πŸ‘

I find this intelligence applicable to humans who thrive - clouds cover us from time to time but what we choose to do with them results in our success and prosperity in life πŸ’«

Time is of the essence - we have a limited number of seasons with our youth, our kids, our loved ones and our opportunities.. excited to share more about those experiences as I make snow out of clouds ❄️

Update! On the Farm 🌳 We are lambing! πŸ‘

Our first mob has just finished lambing and whilst we lost one of our ewes and now have our first poddy lamb, we have a nice little group of replacement ewe lambs for our growing mob - not one but two sets of twins! πŸ‘ πŸ‘

Shout out to our little poddy lamb mum who even gets up at 5:30am to feed her lamb 🩷

I was asked only the other day if we were still travelling or have we settled! So after remaining radio silent for a while Yes we are home, setting up the farm and renovating but always planning the next short or long trip - I can’t help myself 🫣😝

The last two years of travel updates incoming… I am still in awe of beauty in the places we have visited in this wonderful country my 50k + camera roll needs to be shared! ✈️ πŸš—πŸŒŠπŸ–οΈβ˜€οΈπŸŒ²πŸ›€οΈ

Moments like this I just need to pinch myself β˜€οΈπŸΆ 🌳

It’s been too long.. exactly two years since we purchased our farm, over a year since we returned home from our trip to the west coast.. I needed to recharge, re settle and it took a lot longer than I ever imagined πŸ˜…

With new jobs, nee schools, activities, realigned lifestyles and fresh priorities focused on our family life the turtle is very curious and ready to peep from its shell again 🐒 😝

Ready to revisit the best parts of our trip in WA that I couldn’t bare to share at the time and how the farm has evolved since we arrived late 2023 πŸ™ feeling super aligned to this next stage of our lives ✨

Bittersweet return home 🏑 πŸ˜”

As I was about to post our favourite WA travel spots and joyous news of our arrival at our new home after travelling 3,500kms with our 5 beautiful puppies, tragedy struck πŸ˜”

Our Sunny girl and two of her puppies went missing, unsure if they were taken from our yard or lost in the forest close by after potentially wandering off πŸ’”

As hard as it is, after 6 weeks we will still keep praying for a miracle that they return home but we have to move forward for our family, it was a big hit emotionally and so some plans have been put on hold for now while it takes us additional time to settle in to our new community and life on the Fraser Coast πŸ‹

Most photos of our trip contain images of our Sunny, she was at the core of our family and we wouldn’t have done it without her so going through these has been extra tough 😒

Although these are amazing memories that we will never forget and keep close to our heart always πŸ’›

Port Gregory, WA

A little fishing village, keen fishermen and travellers come here for a quiet break as there is not much to the little town besides the caravan park and general store 🎣

We would really only come back if we had a boat to take out fishing otherwise lovely for a quiet spell with no distractions πŸ›₯️

Hutt Lagoon, Port Gregory, WA

The Pinkest of Pink Lakes we have seen so far, used to harvest salt the water is pretty to look at, drone photos are best although these are pretty realistic to what you can see with the naked eye πŸ“Έ

Used to harvest salt the pink is reflected of a particular algae that thrives in the high salt content water πŸ§‚

Our pink obsessed 4 year old was in her element πŸ’•
