Matthew Lyon has a passion for riding his new trike bike! This is amazing as he's never owned a bike before. Now his family need help to get him able to safely ride out in a group so welcome Cyc'd Bike Party! Diagnosed with classic autism at age 2, it has a significant impact on how he thinks, speaks and acts, making it hard for him to fit in and make friends. It also means low muscle tone and a s
truggle with sports. After years of patient tutoring by his amazing teachers using trikes at school, his family courageously bought him a trike of his own! The grin on his face when he first got to ride it was the most inspiring heart warming sight ever! Matthew is now super excited to start riding with other groups of people who enjoy social rides. He hopes that through cycling he will make new friends. He even wants to throw a big bike riders party in his local community to celebrate his achievements. Join the Party Saturday 9 April 2016! Matthew's goals for the future include using the bike as a form of independent transport. He's a young man with hopes to do fun things in life like trips to the shops, going to the beach, out for a meal....just imagine! There is a team of people behind Matthew helping him to reach for his dream. His mum said 'We called his project 'CYC'D' because he's just so psyched to ride his beloved bike and experience what a lot of us remember feeling when we started riding bikes as kids. Pure joy!'
This project is all about the community and bringing people together who want to make more friends and do something fun and healthy while helping put a smile on a young man's face. The Cyc'd Bike Party Saturday 9 April 2016 is the culmination of this project celebrating our locOh and we'd love some help on event day to make sure all runs as smoothly as possible.
