Using local redgum on the grill, the smokiness of Bendigo's only dedicated steakhouse is something you have to savour for yourself. The delicious natural smoky flavours created from the unique redgum create a flavour sensation that pairs perfectly with the very best locally sourced meat and seasonal regional produce. While their steaks are a must, we also can't go past the wood-roasted kipfler potatoes, jamon crisps, caramelised onion, chives, truffle oil, pecorino Romano ... even their sides mean business. And make sure you leave room for dessert, we love their caramel parfait with sorbet, textures of chocolate, lemon verbena yoghurt cheesecake. Head this weekend and check them out!

Brand new and waiting for you. Recently opened Vera restaurant Estate just outside of beautiful Beechworth is definitely worth a weekend drive. Open for lunch Friday to Monday, this place is seriously stunning and with exquisite food and wine to match. The menu is a shared ‘feast style’ celebration created with the best local produce. The menu consists of two stages of sharing 7 savoury plates with the option to add dessert, featuring the likes of cured salmon, their very own Glenbosch gin & tonic pickled cucumbers with creme fraiche and delicious spiced prawns with romesco, baby leeks and fresh backyard roquette. Make sure you also enjoy a wine and gin tasting at the Cellar Door. A weekend done right!

Breakfast/brunch is also delicious with the menu featuring the likes of flatbread with chorizo, haloumi and fried eggs alongside corn fritters and an asparagus and goats cheese omelette with watercress and tarragon dressing. Bookings are preferred on weekends and nights.
