🚗💨 SH*TBOX RALLY — DAY 3 | WILLIAM CREEK ➡️ MT DARE

448km — ALL unsealed! 🏁
🛣️ 448km of dirt, dust, corrugations and adventure!

Day 3 continued along the Oodnadatta Track, with a stop at Eringa Waterhole and, of course, the iconic Pink Roadhouse in Oodnadatta. 💗

Fuel was another story… 😳⛽️ $3.25 a litre for 91 at William Creek, then $3.50 a litre at Mt Dare! 💸
Don’t ask how much we spent in total 🙈

We were lucky enough to arrive at Mt Dare relatively early with no dramas — unlike some teams who were stuck in the fuel queue for more than 3 hours! 😳

Mt Dare is one of South Australia’s most remote outback pubs, right near the SA/NT border. 🏜️🍻

We met a lovely couple from South Africa at dinner who now live in the Kimberley. One of the best parts of this rally has been meeting so many amazing people from all over Australia and beyond. ❤️

And a very unexpected highlight… the showers! 😂 After three days in the dust, we were expecting the usual outback trickle, but they were HOT with loads of pressure! 🚿🔥 Very impressed, Mt Dare!

Another big day, another sunset and another night in the middle of nowhere.

🤨 MUTONIA SCULPTURE PARK — OODNADATTA TRACK

Well… this place definitely deserved its own post! 😂

About 30km west of Marree, in the middle of absolutely nowhere, we came across Mutonia Sculpture Park - and what a strange and fascinating place it is! 🤯

Created by artist and former mechanic Robin “Mutoid” Cooke, the park is filled with huge, bizarre and seriously creative sculptures made from old cars, machinery, railway parts and scrap metal.

✈️ Planehenge - two aircraft standing vertically on their tails
🤖 And plenty of other weird and wonderful creations

Everywhere you looked there was something else to discover and plenty of “what on earth is THAT?!” moments! 😂

Definitely one of the most random and memorable stops along the Oodnadatta Track - and absolutely worth its own post! 📸

🚗💨 SH*TBOX RALLY — DAY 2 | PARACHILNA ➡️ WILLIAM CREEK

388km of adventure! 🏁
🛣️ 151km sealed | 237km unsealed

Day 2 was our first dress-up day — BACK TO SCHOOL! 🎒📚 Loved seeing everyone get into the spirit!

After breakfast and grabbing our packed lunch, we headed towards Marree, where the pub sits right at the start of the Oodnadatta Track. Naturally, we stopped for a quick beverage! 🍻

We timed it perfectly — teams arriving after us were stuck at the pub for 3+ hours after rain left the track muddy and waterlogged, with police warning cars not to enter. 😬🌧️

Then it was onto the Oodnadatta Track — listed as 4WD only! 😳 With 247+ 2WD rally cars, it was always going to be interesting!

The track was muddy, slippery and like skating on ice 🛞💦, with a bogged-out river crossing causing a backlog and plenty of cars needing to be towed through.

Tony was wishing for a rear-wheel-drive car at this point 😂 but was still having an absolute ball!

We also came across the very strange Mutonia Sculpture Park and got to see Lake Eyre incredibly full — apparently something that only happens around once every 50 years! 🌊🤯

A few car dramas across the group, but plenty of helping hands to get everyone moving again. 🔧💪

We finally rolled into William Creek pretty late — what looked like one of the shortest days turned into one of our longest days on the road! 😂

Another great dinner, plenty of stories and Day 2 DONE! 🏁❤️

🚗💨 SH*TBOX RALLY — DAY 1 | ADELAIDE ➡️ PARACHILNA

And we’re OFF! 🏁

Day 1 kicked off at the start line in Adelaide, with our trusty 1992 Corolla loaded up, 2 x 20L jerry cans full, and absolutely no idea what the next 7 days had in store for us! 😂

📏 495km total
🛣️ 385km sealed | 110km unsealed

After leaving Adelaide, we headed towards Port Augusta before hitting the Warrakimbo Road — and this is where the fun really started! Mostly unsealed, with a bit of mud, water and plenty of dust thrown in for good measure. 🚙💨

Along the way we passed some amazing historic ruins before finally rolling into Parachilna, our home for the night — and what an incredible outback pub! 🤠

After setting up our swag tent⛺️ it was straight off for a well-deserved drink and dinner. And WOW… the food was absolutely top notch! 🍻🍽️

If Day 1 was anything to go by, they’ve definitely set the bar high for the rest of the rally!

One day down, plenty more dirt, dust and adventures to come. 🏁❤️

Sh*tbox Rally Quick Update 🚗💨

Adelaide ➡️ Darwin — WE MADE IT! 🎉

One flat tyre ✅
One rear bar ripped off ✅
A few zip ties later… back on the road! 😂

🚗 Adelaide, here we come! 🏁❤️

An early start Thursday morning and we were VERY excited to finally hit the road to Adelaide! 😍🚗💨

It was the car’s first big drive, so there were definitely a few nerves along the way 😅🤞 Would our little Sh*tbox make it to the start line?! Thankfully, she was absolutely loving it! 💪🔧

We made a few stops along the way to check out some landmarks, stretch the legs and, of course, grab plenty of photos 📸🌅 before arriving in Adelaide.

Tonight was the Rally Briefing 🎤🏁 — where we finally got to meet our buddy groups, meet some of the other teams and hear more about what we’ve actually signed ourselves up for! 😂

And just like that… 2 x 20L jerry cans are filled and ready to go! ⛽️⛽️

The car is packed, the fuel is sorted, the nerves are kicking in and the excitement is REAL! 🥹❤️

Tomorrow we officially hit the Sh*tbox Rally start line! 🏁🚗💨

Adelaide ➡️ Darwin… here we come! 🌅🔥
