Time for a beach clean. The MBBA supports revegitation and hopefully the maintenance of the few dedicated beach launch access areas.

Council will shortly commence coastal recovery works at Mission Beach, Wongaling Beach, South Mission, Etty Bay and Bingil Bay as part of the Queensland Reconstruction Authority (QRA)-funded response to damage caused by Tropical Cyclone Jasper.

So it should, but too late for some.

So it should, but too late for some.

STATE and federal funding is being pursued by Cassowary Coast Regional Council to shield local ratepayers from the crippling costs of renewing the region’s ageing marine infrastructure.

A light has recently been repaired above the boat ramp at clump point and more are on the way, were told.

The toilet block remains dark and navigating the access can be tricky with vines hanging within reach of canopies and roof mounted electronics.

Excersize Caution when heading to the boat ramp and please do not park in the only available spaces where passing is posible.

Also note the public swing moorings are not compliant and using them is done at your own risk.

The Mission Beach Boating Association - MBBA wishes all users happy boating days.

Clear skies and calm conditions = Safe boating? Think again… Of the 328 marine incidents reported across Queensland in 2025:

· 70% occurred in designated smooth waters
· 62% occurred in clear weather
· 66% occurred in good visibility
· 59% occurred in winds below 16 knots.

The most commonly reported marine incident? Collisions between vessels. The message is simple: operating in good weather conditions and calmer waters, or closer to shore is no guarantee of safety.

Stay alert every time you are on the water. Always travel at a safe speed - and keep a proper lookout.
