After a great weekend at TumbaFest seeing so many caravanners out enjoying the lifestyle, it was straight back into a full week of weighings here in Canberra.

The common theme this week?

Lap plans starting to take shape.

What a week! 🙌

We’ve wrapped up a busy few days weighing caravans and helping customers fine-tune their towing setup — making sure they’re safe, balanced and ready for the road.

This morning’s couple summed it up beautifully. They said they caravan to “enjoy the simple life.”

And that’s exactly what it should be about.
With 25kg of food and clothes packed in the van and two adults in the vehicle, we put their full setup across the scales — and everything came in within manufacturer standards ✔️

No guesswork.

That’s what we love to see — people travelling knowing they’re legal, balanced and set up properly before they head off to make memories.

We finished the week with a great matched towing combination- Toyota Prado and Olympic tourer. With only a minor tweak of moving a couple of items the owner was pleased with the load capacity and is now ready for more trips to the south coast with a good understanding of their weight ratings and load balance.

We had this brand new Ford Ranger on the scales this week for its first weight check. With pre-rego GVM upgrade and core towing accessories this travel is almost ready to lap. The owners are planning and preparing for up coming travel and safety and compliance are at the top of their list.

Heading away for the summer school holidays? Before you hit the road, make sure your vehicle is ready for the journey.

Here’s a quick road trip checklist:
🛞 Check your tyres – ensure they’re properly inflated and in good condition
🚗 Check under the bonnet – top up engine oil, coolant and windscreen washer reservoir
💡 Test all vehicle lights and indicators
🪟 Clean your windscreen for clear visibility
🛑 Check your brakes for any issues.

If you’re towing a caravan or campervan, remember to conduct a thorough inspection. Check your tyres, towing capacity and caravan weight, and make sure your tow hitch, safety chains and lights are correctly attached and in working order.

It’s important to remember that road safety should be your top priority.
👉 Put your phone away
👉 Slow down and drive to the conditions
👉 Avoid unsafe and unnecessary overtaking
👉 Leave a safe distance with the vehicle in front
👉 Allow extra time and rest when tired
👉 Do not drive if you are impaired in any way.
