Earlier this week, we had the pleasure of welcoming the NHVR team to our Adelaide facility for an informal toolbox session and Q&A with some of our loading and PM team, and what a fantastic experience.

The session was incredibly informative and provided real value to our team, helping to strengthen our understanding and approach to safe and compliant operations. There was a great level of engagement throughout, with plenty of thoughtful questions from our crew, all of which the NHVR team took the time to answer in detail.

One of the highlights was the hands-on component, where we worked through multiple real-world freight examples. It was clear that the NHVR team is genuinely committed to supporting industry in taking a proactive approach to load restraint and road safety.

We really appreciate the time, effort, and knowledge shared with us today. Opportunities like this not only build capability within our team but also reinforce the importance of working together to keep our roads safe for everyone.

Thanks again to the NHVR team—we look forward to continuing to build on what we’ve learned.

Our valued customer, Sprint Freight and Logistics, recently had the opportunity to trial the Volvo FM Electric Truck in their fleet and it was great to read their positive feedback below. ⚡

The truck was tasked with metro semi work and performed exceptionally well in that environment. It was comfortably able to complete two full days of metro operations between charges and the team commented that it made for a very practical and efficient solution for urban and metropolitan freight tasks.

From the driver’s perspective, the truck really stood out for its comfort, how quiet it was and the delivery of instant torque exactly where it was needed. The smooth power delivery made a noticeable difference in stop-start metro traffic, while the reduction in cabin noise created a far less fatiguing driving experience.

Today, was great to receive 4 of our new high volume Mezzanine floor trailers to cover the the Iron Triangle, Port Lincoln and Eyre Peninsula. This will help us cope with the growing freight volumes. Thank you to freightergroup in Adelaide, for building us some awesome trailers with BPW light disc braked axes Riding on Bridgestone Ecopia fuel saving Tyres and using Jost Heavy duty 5th Wheels and landing legs. It’s going to give us a very efficient and productive combination especially when we make it into an A-B triple and the black prime mover arives to go in front, coming soon is going to make one good looking rig.

It’s exciting to see our new Port Augusta depot taking shape, with exceptional workmanship and support demonstrated throughout the project so far. The new depot is road train accessable with the ability to unload a full conbination under cover out of the weather. We’re looking forward to moving in over the coming months.

We recently had the opportunity to trial the new Volvo FH Electric in our fleet, and it was an impressive experience from start to finish.

The truck was primarily tasked with metro semi work, and in that environment it performed exceptionally well. We were comfortably able to complete two full days of metro operations between charges, making it a very practical and efficient solution for urban and metropolitan freight tasks. For linehaul work, however, the current battery range would present limitations — it simply doesn’t yet have the legs required for longer-distance applications without significant downtime for charging.

From a driver’s perspective, the truck was outstanding. It was extremely comfortable, remarkably quiet, and delivered instant torque exactly where you need it. The smooth power delivery makes a noticeable difference in stop-start metro traffic, and the reduction in cabin noise creates a far less fatiguing driving experience over a full shift.

The technology and refinement are a clear sign of where heavy transport is heading. While it may not yet replace diesel for long-haul applications, it is absolutely an ideal solution for metro freight operations. The trial certainly opened our minds to the future potential of electric vehicles in transport, and we’re excited to see how the technology continues to evolve.

From all of us at Sprint Freight & Logistics, we would like to send our biggest congratulations to Keisha—our much-loved long-term morning supervisor—and her partner Aaron on the arrival of their beautiful baby girl, Ava 👶✨

While Keisha is now taking a well-deserved break on maternity leave and is truly missed each and every day, we couldn’t be happier for her as she begins this exciting new chapter of motherhood. Ava is already so lucky to have such wonderful parents.
