Our friends at Visionary Ocean Warriors are hosting a beach clean-up at Happy Valley, Caloundra, and you’re invited!

🗓 Saturday, 12th September ⏰ 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM

This isn't your average clean-up, it’s powered by Seaside Scavenge!

That means every piece of litter you pick up acts as currency to "buy" pre-loved clothes, books, and bric-a-brac donated by the local community.

It’s the ultimate zero-waste loop: clean our coastline, rethink waste as a resource, and take home some treasures.

We’ll be there getting our hands dirty, picking up plastic, and will share our story with our community.

Come say hi, bring your family, and let’s keep the Sunny Coast pristine! 💙

We’re rubbing plastic into our skin for the sake of "convenience." 🧵

Wet wipes are a $30 billion industry, we consume more than 1.7 million tons every year*.

Many are made with synthetic fibres that don’t biodegrade or compost and shed micro- and nanoplastic fibers.

A washable cloth made with natural fibers can be reused hundreds of times.

A synthetic wipe?

Seconds of convenience, but permanent waste.

Some wipes have a purpose, i.e. to disinfect supermarket trolleys or gym equipment.

But do we really need one for everything?

The UK is already banning plastic-containing wet wipes.

If you need wipes, choose plastic-free. They exist. We’ve researched them and identified the options with the simplest formulations.

Can you see the red plastic fibres in this image?

Plastic nets for produce shed microplastics in your fridge and kitchen. And cutting them open with scissors can make it even worse!

The frustrating part?

Supermarkets often make packaged produce look like the cheaper, easier choice, while loose produce can be harder to find or more expensive, all of this to increase their bottom line with a faster checkout.

The Australian Marine Conservation Society is investigating supermarket plastic use and is asking people to report what they’re finding. The link is in the comments.

And when you spot unnecessary plastic in your supermarket, take a photo and tag I'm Plastic Free. We want to see it too.

Kinda chic to…

-refill instead of constantly rebuying new plastic.
-wear natural fibers instead of plastic
-choose glass over plastic.
-carry your own plastic free reusable bottle.
-repeat your plastic-free outfits.
-ask what your products are actually made of.
-care about microplastics.

And honestly… not to care when “plastic-free” wasn’t “cool.”
We saw those eyes rolling many years ago… when people thought we were crazy…😉

But choosing better for your health & the planet’s health never goes out of style.

Our founder Simona recently joined WDVR's The 11 O'Clock Number with Shep Cohen, a US radio program reaching around 40,000 listeners across New Jersey every Tuesday.

For 25 years, Shep has been sharing conversations with people from all walks of life and the work they’re doing to make a difference.

The conversation covered I'm Plastic Free, why it was created, and the growing need to reduce our exposure to plastic and toxic chemicals.

With the US being our biggest audience, it was a great opportunity to introduce I’m Plastic Free to more listeners across New Jersey and beyond.
