WINNERS WALKWAY - Post no #2
Australasian Country Music Awards

Continuing on from the prior post, here are the bronze plaques inlaid in the footpath lining Peel St, on both sides between White & Brisbane Streets.

These plaques show the Golden Guitar winners from each year since the awards inception in 1973.

Here are the winners from the 1980s era.

WINNERS WALKWAY
Australasian Country Music Awards

During our time exploring this fabulous town, we found the bronze plaques inlaid in the footpath lining Peel St, on both sides between White & Brisbane Streets.

These plaques show the Golden Guitar winners from each year since the awards inception in 1973.

Yes we captured every plaque along the way, so over a few posts, this will be our theme showcasing these photographs. We took a little time at each, to clear away some leaves or an old birdsh!t or find it under a Cafe planter or chair!!!
You know, by having a look through our pics, you may just be able to pick up some knowledge & answer a trivia question one day! 😉

Here is the header plaque & the winners from the 1970s era.

📍 Tamworth, NSW

Great place to immerse yourself into the Australian country music scene.
No matter your age, gender, nationality, hair colour or size boots you wear... there really is a genre of music for everyone. We definitely love a bit o' country though!

Recognising the names of singers from a childhood memory or introducing the teen to some home-grown talent has been great over the last few days, as we explore Tamworth.
Over the next few posts, we'll be sharing our happy snaps of the few places we've been.

So currently each of us has a couple of Australian faves on repeat;
🔴 D. is reliving her Gina Jeffreys , Beccy Cole & John Williamson days
🔵 A. he has got a myriad of artists on a 'mix tape' YT list Paul Kelly Troy Cassar-Daley to name a couple
🟡 T. is enjoying James Johnston , Lee Kernaghan & Travis Collins

If you're not listening to our home-grown country artists... why not?
🇦🇺❤️

Who's your fave country artist?
(Yes it can be from anywhere in the world 🌎)

Theodolite Creek at Woodgate Beach in Burrum Coast National Park.

Today's exploration; bit o' driving & bit o' fishing & beach time chilling with mates.
Nothing on the rods & a bit of sun on the bods, but a great day checking out the surrounds.

Magnetic Island, Queensland

We decided to take our own escooters to Magnetic Island, instead of hop-on/off bus or hiring a vehicle. There were a few looks cast our way when we were all boarding as they are not small items, but we packed them onto the back of the ferry & off we went!
It was a fabulous day of exploring beaches, bays, coves & lookouts.
Highly recommend to take your camelback with beach towel, power bank & a muesli bar & then you're set to enjoy the day at your leisure.
Mummy koala & her bub was spotted along the walkway to The Forts lookout & was absolutely adorable!

Who would have thunk it... leave Darwin to be in a Cyclone Watch area in Brisbane!
We're packed & prepped to go at a moment's notice, but also not travelling if needed.
And if it wasn't for appointments & rescheduled car items, we'd be long gone!
We'll be watching updates & staying informed.
Currently little wind gusts coming through, but sun is still shining through some growing grey clouds.

Stay safe everyone who is in the area of Alfred's path & ensuing deluge!
🌀

Tropical Cyclone Alfred, a category 1 system, is currently located 465 kilometres east-north-east of Brisbane and 430 kilometres east-north-east of Maroochydore.

Alfred will continue moving towards the south-east today, slightly away from the Queensland coast before slowing down and turning westward, towards the Queensland coast on Tuesday.

Alfred is currently a category 1 cyclone but is expected to intensify to a category 2 cyclone tonight. It is likely to maintain a category 2 intensity as it approaches the south-east Queensland coast late on Thursday.

Severe coastal hazards, including abnormally high tides and hazardous surf are expected to continue over southern Queensland and north-eastern New South Wales coasts, deteriorating further as Alfred begins to move towards the coast from Tuesday onwards.

A large and powerful to potentially damaging easterly swell is occurring about exposed southern Queensland beaches, and is forecast to extend to northern New South Wales coast today.

Gales with damaging wind gusts to 120 kilometres per hour are expected to develop along the south-east Queensland and north-eastern New South Wales coastal and island communities between Tewantin and Grafton during Wednesday. Gales may extend north to Sandy Cape from late Wednesday onwards.

Heavy rainfall is forecast for south-east Queensland and north-eastern New South Wales from Wednesday as Alfred approaches the coast. Flood Watches have been issued for these areas.

Property Sitting / Caretaking / Caretakers

Unbeknownst to us when we set off on our travels, would we venture into the area of taking care of a stranger's property & / or animals.

This wasn't a completely new idea for us, as we had taken on caretakers for our own rural property in Darwin when our varied holidays allowed.

However, being at the other end of the so-called stick & ensuring that someone's animal/s were fed, watered & possibly medicated, cleaned-up after & happy with daily exercise & toy play, pot plants, vegetable gardens, gorgeous garden beds & luscious lawns to tend to & then the property responsibility itself, ensuring power remains available for fridges & freezers, being a presence on the land & checking water & feed for the assortment of stock; cattle, sheep, goats & horses.

Throw in some chooks & an occasional extra 1 or few pets & sometimes it's quite a few hours we spend on a daily basis completing all tasks.

It's something we enjoy though & we do not take it on lightly. Learning about the people, their pets & stock & the land enables us to learn more about an area that we travel to.
What gets farmed in surrounding areas & what grows well in others, is very interesting to us all.

We have made lifelong friendships through this activity & have gained some wonderful memories.
Being there for the birth of a new calf, a litter of puppies or a pregnant horse's mood swings is something in itself. It all has it's aspects of education & emotions.

Here are just a few of "our" animals, that will always be part of our memories ❤️

Vehicle Appreciation Posts

Being a fan of acronyms (hence D.A.T 😉), & hidden words/codes, D thought it would be a good idea & it's nice to be able to show these vehicles & plates off & maybe know a little more about the 'inside story'.

To start off with, our original Landcruiser was "Elsey" (LC) & we now have "DAT6X6".

If you know of a great number plate or vehicle, let us know!
