Growth doesn’t always mean more orders, more products, or bigger numbers. Sometimes, growth means building the infrastructure to do things better.

For us, this week it meant building a fully enclosed room around our lathe.

We’re incredibly excited to start producing our own beveled magnets in-house, but doing that properly also means thinking about our health and keeping the rest of the workshop clean and safe.

The room itself is now nearly finished, with proper extraction still to be installed. Once everything is up and running, it will allow us to produce consistent bevels across different magnet grades and lengths, while keeping the machining process contained.

Another step towards bringing more of our production in-house and having even more control over the parts we supply.

Engraving our Nebula Clamp Jigs we just launched using our Trotec Laser

I always wondered why pickup clamp jigs were basically built upside down.

Hear me out: with old-style pickup jigs, the flatwork material gets pushed out underneath, so you end up picking, sanding, or reaming the bottom before the bobbin is actually ready.

So why not flip the problem?

Press the rods from the other side, let the excess material come up, and just… brush it off.

We even timed it.

With cleanup, it takes about three minutes to finish a bobbin the old way.

The new way? Around thirty-five to fourty seconds, clean, flush, and ready for winding.

Pickup potting wax explained.

Paraffin penetrates well and is inexpensive, but brittle on its own. Beeswax adds flexibility and stability, but is thicker and harder to get evenly into the coil unless you vacuum pot.

That’s why blends exist.

We stock pure paraffin, pure beeswax, 50/50, and our bestselling 80/20 blend for pickup potting.

A cleaner way to assemble humbuckers.

This little jig helps keep the bobbins, spacers, magnet, and baseplate aligned while you screw everything together. No awkward flipping, no spacers flying out, and less fighting with loose parts on the bench.

Day 3 of launching new flatwork options and solutions, and honestly, this might be our most exciting one yet.

From the moment we got into the pickup world, the traditional way of building humbuckers always felt more cumbersome than it needed to be. This flatwork has been on our to-do list ever since, and we finally made the time to develop it and make it work.

Available in two versions:
a traditional flatwork option and an eyelet option.

Both are designed to fit on a fibersheet baseplate and work with regular humbucker hardware and baseplates.

Screws aren’t an option yet, we’re working on that, but for slugs and rod magnets, this works beautifully.

The biggest advantage? You’re no longer locked into a fixed bobbin height like with traditional ABS bobbins. This gives builders more freedom to experiment with coil height, materials, and construction style.

More flexibility. Less hassle. More room to build your way.
