Funny how a ride can hold a memory...

When I was a kid, my grandfather would take me to the travelling carnivals that popped up every year. And without fail, I wanted to ride the rides that went up, around, and around again.

Dumbo the Flying Elephant and The Magic Carpets of Aladdin have always brought a little bit of that feeling back for me.

So when my wife caught this video of me on Dumbo, she probably just thought she was filming me having fun.

But for me, it was a little piece of childhood.

And honestly, I think that’s one of the things I love most about Disney Destinations. The attractions, characters and parks are only part of the experience. Sometimes it’s the smallest moments that connect you to a memory — or become one you’ll carry home with you.

That’s also why I approach Disney vacation planning a little differently.

“How often do you think about Walt Disney World?”

Monday? Disney.
Tuesday? Disney.
Wednesday? Still Disney.
Thursday? Obviously Disney.
Friday? Disney.
Saturday? You get the idea.
Sunday? Already wondering when I can go back. 😂

At this point, Walt Disney World isn’t something I think about.

It’s more of a background process.

Apparently, when you’re a travel advisor specializing in Disney Destinations, antiquing is just part of the job. 😂

Today’s finds included vintage Walt Disney Productions Japan porcelain, 1970s Walt Disney World postcards showing attractions and locations from another era, and vintage Disney Little Big Books from the 1960s and ’70s.

Do I need all of this? Absolutely not.
Do I have a perfectly reasonable explanation for buying it? Also absolutely not.

But I do love Disney history, and that appreciation directly informs how I plan vacations by understanding where Disney has been and where it is going, which makes experiencing where it is today that much more meaningful.

A client shared this beautiful story with me (with permission to share).

While visiting Walt Disney World, N bought her daughter a Cinderella notebook from the gift shop. When her daughter asked if people could sign it, she assumed she meant the characters.

But her daughter had something else in mind…

“Not characters — the regular people. The Cast Members.”

And just like that, a simple notebook became something truly magical.

Her daughter asked Cast Members to sign her notebook. Many of them shared that no one had ever asked them to do that before — and you could see how much it meant to them.

In a place designed to create magic, this little girl created some of her own. ✨

This is why we love Disney. It’s not just about the rides, the shows, or the photos. It’s about kindness, connection, and the unexpected moments that become the memories you carry home.
