๐‘น๐’‚๐’Š๐’ ๐’‰๐’‚๐’‘๐’‘๐’†๐’๐’”. ๐‘ฐ๐’‡ ๐’š๐’๐’–๐’“ ๐’๐’†๐’‚๐’•๐’‰๐’†๐’“ ๐’ˆ๐’†๐’•๐’” ๐’˜๐’†๐’•, ๐’…๐’๐’'๐’• ๐’‘๐’‚๐’๐’Š๐’„.

โš“๏ธBlot/wipe (don't rub) excess moisture with a clean cloth, then let the piece dry naturally at room temperature. Keep it away from heat sources like radiators, wood stoves, or direct ๐ŸŒž sunlight, which can cause the leather to stiffen, crack, or warp.

โš“๏ธOnce fully dry, apply a thin layer of conditioner to restore suppleness. For items used regularly in wet or muddy conditions โ€” like chaps, horse tack, or saddle bags โ€” a water-resistant leather finish/creme or wax can offer added protection without sealing out the leather's natural breathability.

โš“๏ธSalt from sweat can also dry leather out faster than plain water. Wipe down any salt residue with a barely damp cloth before it has a chance to set.

โš“๏ธKeep it dry and ventilated: Avoid plastic bags or airtight containers, which trap moisture and invite mould.

โš“๏ธAvoid direct sunlight ๐ŸŒž for long periods: UV exposure over time can fade and dry out leather.

โš“๏ธMaintain shape: Stuff bags with acid-free tissue paper if storing for longer periods to help them hold their form. Hang chaps on a rounded hanger, or chaps stand instead of a nail or hook - to avoid irreversably damaging the back belt.

โš“๏ธSeparate from rubber or vinyl: These materials can transfer chemicals onto leather surfaces over time.
Pieces used seasonally โ€” such as chaps or spur straps โ€” should be cleaned and conditioned before going into storage, NOT after being taken out.

This set of 'roundish squarish' ๐Ÿ˜† ch*nks feature premium dark espresso brown chap leather (4/5oz) paired with a semi firm 10-inch custom top grain rough-out oil tan fringe* in russet.

The Lucky Horseshoe๐Ÿงฒ -This chap leather had the perfect horseshoe brand that I was able to align on the bottom corner on the left side... for better luck?

Length of chap does NOT correlate with inseam or outseam of jeans.

โ€‹If I had a dollar for every time I heard that, Iโ€™d be retired on a beach ๐Ÿ– somewhere! So I decided to solve the problem for you.

Weโ€™re here until around 11:00 AM before Charlene and I head back to our farms. Itโ€™s been such a fantastic weekend (even if my generator decided to call it quits early ๐Ÿฅด๐Ÿฅถ)!

A quick intro for all the new faces around here! ๐Ÿ‘‹

โ€‹Iโ€™m Alanaโš“๏ธโ€”the designer, tooler, marketer, order packer, and full-time maker behind Rockinโ€™ Anchor Leather โš“๏ธ (with my baby girl Betty ๐Ÿด).

โ€‹Falling into leatherwork was total kismet. After closing my skincare business during COVID, my hands needed something creative to doโ€”and what started as a project quickly grew into this passion. (If youโ€™re curious about the full story, thereโ€™s a recent feature article you can check out a few posts back๐Ÿ˜‰).

โ€‹As a one-woman show, every single pieceโ€”from custom chaps to everyday leather goodsโ€”is handcrafted by me from start to finish. Because I give each project the time and detail it deserves, response times can take a little bit of patience. Trust me, you want the quality that comes with taking time!
