Crazy eh??

Its kinda funny how Trucking is a job where for the most part your alone. But really until now did I realize we arent.

Is it that we are scared to reach out? Scared to show some sort of weakness? Think we can just fix everything on our own? Or is it just that we have spent so much time alone that we have become almost kinda socially awkward and forget how to reach out? Is it that we are gone so often we lose touch with friends and loved ones that we feel we no longer have anyone to reach out to?

Truckin Rights eh!!! What a concepts... A group of people... kind of like family, we learn to care, show emotion, not worry about being judged!! We are all in this together. We are all here for each other. We may not always agree with everything, but at the end of the day, we are all here for the same reason. To better ourselves, not only as truck drivers or those who play a part in the industry, or even just people who found a place where there is comfort.

What the heck does this have to do with trucking? The fact is at Truckin Rights we all have someone. Someone we can talk to. Someone we can relate with. Someone who just gets it.

Its crazy the amount of feedback i get on my posts, really im just one guy telling stories about myself and the life we live in. whats crazy is how many poeple live the exact same life but different. Alone? not even close. So may people can relate to what i say, how i feel, what i do. etc... i had no idea. its actually quite relieving. The world isnt so big afterall.

When your feeling down, feeling alone, feeling upset,or happy and just want to tell someone. reach out! Someone is here for you.
I am!! you all have had my back, kind words of enthusiasm, give me the push i need. You all need to know that in return, I am here for you as well

please comment and share, you never know who might read this and take full advantage. you never know who actually needs it. I did. Still do!

MY MENTAL BREAKDOWN

Its been quite awhile since my last post. A lot of people were messaging seeing how I was. Truth have it. Not good. I kinda feel as though i had lost myself and just didnt care. I pushed people away, so they couldnt see my pain. I wouldnt let anyone near because i was scared people would see i was weak.

Thos weekend i went on a 4000km haul. So glad i did. I needed it. I had what i hope was my final break down. Thank god no one was around. I screamed, i yelled, i cried and then i smiled. Wait what? I smiled. It wasnt a for show smile either. It was a get back up smile. A smile of realization. A smile for passion. I remembered i made a promise. A promise to help. A promise to give my all for the industry im part of.

For all of you who are still here. Im back.
Im proud. And best of all l... Im part of a bigger picture. Im part of Truckin Rights. To me.... That makes me part of you, and that is worth more than any words can say.

Sometimes through the craziest of events, you meet someone special. Someone you just bond with. You joke, you laugh. You share stories, you cry. You open right up, you care. Zach.... You were one of those guys man. 3 in the afternoon or in the morning, didn't matter we could talk about anything and usually end up in laughter. I miss you pal. With more friends like you, life wouldn't be so hard.

As a new year begins and an old one passes, it gives us all a perfect chance at a fresh start. Personally for new years, I have vowed to help as many people as possible. This is where Truckin Rights plans to set itself out as a different trucking site than any other. It's not about news, well it is in a way. Just not the typical copy and paste we all see on other sites. Not only is this a place where I share my daily life as a truck driver, but for educating as well. I'd really like to get more personal with people this year. I want to know your daily lives as truckers as well. To me this is how we can start our change for the Better. We need to personalize trucking more. Make it not so robotic. We do have a tough life, let's find ways to make it better. As some of you know, I've recently taken a job as operations manager for a trucking company. No that doesn't just mean a desk job, but I get to make changes in our policies, visit and talk with shippers and receivers, other companies but I will still be driving on occasion as well. A real chance to share all sides of our industry. What I'd like from this post with the getting more personal is a hello from you. And maybe a short post about you. Let's get to know each other. Let's make trucking more personal. It's a small step but a needed one.

To those of you here who don't know Misty Rig, here is her page. A quick briefing about her is she as well, is dedicating a lot of her time and energy giving back to the trucking industry, helping drivers in need. Not only a pretty face Misty, a mother, a business woman, a model, and a friend is very dedicated to a very similar cause as I am. Uniting truck drivers. Do not mistake this as uninionizing. Just bringing back the brotherhood and sisterhood of the highway. Many think it's to late, industry is to far gone. Well for the last 3 years Misty has been fighting for our cause. This is year one of me doing it publicly. But watch out as 2016 is right around the corner, and huge things are taking place. Please like and share Misty's page and get familiar with her name as we will be building our relationship together to help an industry we love.

For 2016 watch for many new videos, including one I asked all of you for pictures for, watch for more educational material, watch as I go through my daily life and battles being a driver myself!! But most importantly watch for me and you getting to know each other better. Drivers uniting. Drivers standing together. A little piece at a time, we will once again improve our industry.

As always stay safe and be respectful

Death rates are rising even as Congress is caving to trucking industry pressure and loosening regulations.

Here my point of view on the new electronic log mandate. As all stands right now I'm against it, but that could change. I think it has great possibilities.

Their big selling point is "this automated technology not only brings logging records into the modern age"
And " there will be a net savings of 1 billion dollars and estimates 26 lives a year saved and prevent 562 injuries" are we counting paper cuts in these stats? Lol. How can you predict how many injuries will be saved.

Now all that being said sounds like a no brainer. I completely agree, but let's push for a proper use of the e logs. They say they are revolutionizing trucking with this technology, and maybe so. But there's will always be ways to get around the system. If they truly are after making changes for safety let's look at how drivers are paid. I would say a good majority are paid mileage.... you want safer roads change that. Make it mandatory to pay hourly wages. Then drivers aren't fighting for that extra mile. Use the e logs as savings to payroll. Drivers hrs are already in the system. Even more savings. When we are forced to sit at the shippers and receivers for hours on end. We are being paid. Not only are you making it safer by hourly pay but you will see trucks slow down as well. Why drive 120km/hr or 75m/hr when we are paid hourly. Then we are just loosing money.

I think there are a lot of changes that need made and I think electronic logs are a good start, but let's stop making all these changes to the driver and putting the blame on them, but let's make changes to the industry as a whole. Companies included. Elogs are great but changing how we are paid is even better.
The 2 put together I guarantee will provide the much needed changes.

They say there's a driver shortage. How much more attractive would trucking be if after 44hrs a week we were paid time and a half?. How much more attractive would trucking be if we got paid for all we did?
Your argument might be well companies can't afford that.... lol up the rates. Construction workers get paid that way and houses are still built? Government gets paid that way and nations still function. Nurses get paid that, and patients are still looked after.

Why can't trucking? This is going to be a major campaign through Truckin Rights. This is going to be a big battle and can have a huge impact on our transportations future. If you agree share this post. Place your comments. Let's fight for us. We need it.

As always

By early December 2017, an estimated 3 million commercial drivers will have thrown out their paper logbooks. A long-anticipated rule requiring electronic logging devices (ELDs) for truck and bus driver hours of service was announced Thursday morning.
