My name is Ryan Pearce, owner and operator of Herbert Towing and Hauling.
Tomorrow, February 8th, marks the anniversary of my father's passing, and it's a day of deep remembrance for me.
My dad, Ron Dueck, spent years climbing into tow trucks for Bridge City Towing in Saskatoon, most often driving Truck 1—the tandem heavy wrecker. Later, at Astro Towing, he was known as "Hawaii" (a nod to the TV show Hawaii Five-0), and he operated another heavy wrecker, Truck 50, with the same skill and pride.
He ran tow trucks through my teenage years and well into my adulthood. Everything I know about the trade—the long hours, the tough calls, the satisfaction of getting the job done right—I learned from him.
He passed away a few years ago after a battle with cancer. He was just 62.
Today, I have my own Truck 1 here at Herbert Towing and Hauling. My goal is to build this company into something he would have been proud of—a solid, reliable operation that carries on the same dedication he showed every day on the road.
Rest in peace, Dad. Your legacy lives on in every tow, every recovery, and every mile we cover.
Below are photos of the two heavy wreckers he was best known for operating: Truck 1 with Bridge City Towing, and Truck 50 with Astro Towing.
