Happy to officially announce this new endeavour I have been working on with Doug Philp for some time now!
The Lunenburg Boat Locker is Changing Locations and Ownership
Doug Philp of Lunenburg Boat Locker and Mike Moreland of Ironbound Rigging are happy to announce the change of ownership and relocation of The Lunenburg Boat Locker to 174 Bluenose Drive. The Boat Locker has been owned and successfully operated by Doug Philp for 15 years and he is excited about being a part of the transition.
Michael Moreland, ship master, founder and operator of IRONBOUND Rigging and Marine Services, has taken over the Boat Locker and is moving it to under his busy rigging loft on the waterfront on the Picton Castle Wharf at 174 Bluenose Drive.
After a few necessary upgrades to the ground floor shop area on Bluenose Drive, The Boat Locker Chandlery will reopen in the spring with a robust line of both traditional and modern marine inventory for all manner of sea-going craft. The aim is to strengthen marine supply services in Lunenburg, ensuring that fishermen, boaters, schooner skippers, local and visiting yachts and maritime professionals to have improved access to the quality marine products they require, and knowledgeable services right close to the harbour.
It will be sad to see John Edelmanns charming emporium head out. But we hope and expect to see John and his marvelous collection of old marine wares and curios back in Lunenburg often, to set up a table of his wares now and then as he makes his rounds to the many out-door antique markets all around the province, as has been his charming way over so many years.
“This is about reinvestment in the waterfront and making sure marine businesses, area watercraft and visiting vessels to Lunenburg remain well supplied for years to come,, as we pitch in to strengthen the working waterfront” said Moreland. “We’re excited to build on what’s traditionally been here and to welcome customers into a refreshed upgraded marine chandlery soon.”
