As we wrap up a hectic week of counting for hashtag 2026 we want thank all the community scientists across the country who generously volunteered their time conduct micromobility counts. Thank you as well to the countless local organizations, groups and leaders to helped to recruit participants, refine the count locations and provide input on the process!

Our team will meet next week to geek out over data, the feedback and get started on making some snazzy charts we can put out to help inform better planning, policy in legislation for cycling across Canada. 📊📈

Huge thanks to the team of organizations and businesses who brought in the resources to make it happen:

🎉The official count week for Pedal Poll/Sondo Vélo has just wrapped up, and we’re so thrilled with the participation this year! Volunteers counted for over 700 hours in 38 communities across 11 provinces/territories!

🚲We counted a total of 61,424 people on bikes, including 46,141 people on conventional bikes, 8731 on e-bikes, 5128 on shared bikes and 1424 on cargo bikes!

And that’s just so far - we know that many counts are still continuing this week due to poor weather in some communities, and paper counts are still coming in so these numbers will only continue to grow!

🌧If you weren’t able to complete your shift last week due to weather or other conflicts, there’s still time! If you did complete your shifts but want more, you can sign up for more shifts!
The app will still show dates June 2-7, but you can sign up and complete the shifts this week (just make sure you count on the right day of the week - weekday vs weekend).

📝If you counted on paper and haven’t yet submitted your count, please email your completed count sheet to [email protected] as soon as possible!

Stay tuned for more analysis and the final data!

🚲 A bicycle is more than a way to get from one place to another—it is a powerful tool for sustainable development.

On , we recognize the bicycle as a simple, affordable, reliable and sustainable means of transport that connects people to opportunity. From jobs and education to healthcare, markets and public spaces, cycling helps make cities more accessible, inclusive and resilient.

Investing in safe cycling infrastructure can reduce inequalities, improve health, strengthen neighbourhood connectivity, support climate action and create more people-centred cities.

When we make cycling safer and more accessible, we help connect homes to opportunity for all.

No, using an e-bike is NOT cheating.

To mark day Samuel went on tv Rogers Ottawa to do a little mythbusting quiz on cyling. Thank you Julie Findlay (Mom in the Know) for playing along!

In Vietnam 🇻🇳, the bicycle is a powerful symbol of resilience, community, and daily life. Vietnam is also an original champion of the UN's initiative, alongside Poland 🇵🇱, Austria 🇦🇹, Azerbaijan 🇦🇿, the UAE 🇦🇪, Kenya 🇰🇪, and Mexico 🇲🇽.

This week for we supported a ride through Ottawa with diplomats and local leaders. We were also featured on VNA (Vietnam News Agency)—Vietnam's official national press network.

Are we famous in Vietnam now?

Happy World Bike Day! Biking is my favourite way to get around the city, but it’s more than just that, because when we make cycling safer and more accessible — we build stronger, healthier, and more connected communities.

//

Sam says: Pick a shift now.

Florence says: Yes, pick a shift. It’s fun!

There are still shifts up for grabs. You could count on Thursday. It’ll be sunny. Or over the weekend. You’ll help gather precious data on micromobility.
