Every skilled trades journey looks a little different.
We want to congratulate Cole Humphrey on completing the Motive Power Technician (Diesel) college program at Fanshawe College as he begins his path toward becoming a certified 310T Truck and Coach Technician. 🙌🎉
Many people are familiar with the traditional apprenticeship route, but fewer realize that post-secondary programs like Motive Power Technician (Diesel) can also be a valuable pathway into the trade.
By completing this program, Cole has satisfied the Ministry educational requirements that typically involve Levels 1, 2, and 3 of in-school apprenticeship block training, allowing him to focus on completing the required hands-on apprenticeship hours needed for certification.
Starting his apprenticeship in high school through OYAP (Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program) has also helped him get a head start on accumulating those hours.
For anyone considering a career in the heavy-duty industry, exploring college programs can be a great way to build technical skills, gain hands-on experience, and get a strong start in the field.
The industry needs skilled technicians, and there’s more than one way to get there. 💪🔧
