Manitoba Summer Adventures: Hidden Gems Await

Think Manitoba is “boring”? Think again! This summer, we explored beyond Winnipeg and uncovered breathtaking spots—all within a 2–3 hour drive. Here’s our journey:

A haven for fishing enthusiasts. Watch pelicans swoop in, enjoy the calm waters, and soak up the peaceful vibe. Don’t miss the impressive Lockport Dam—perfect for a family picnic.

📍 Pine Dock Caves

A hiker’s dream! Not too long trails, stunning scenery, no cell service, and plenty of wildlife—including bears. Perfect for adventure lovers.

📍 Steep Rock

Epic cliffs and rocks meet a gorgeous beach. Don’t forget your kayak to fully enjoy this natural playground.

📍 Falcon Lake Trails

Spend the whole day exploring these trails. Bonus: there’s a local UFO story that adds a mysterious twist to your hike!

📍 Falcon Beach Ranch

A unique experience—book ahead to enjoy horseback riding and ranch life in Manitoba’s countryside.

📍 Hy-Wire Zipline Adventure

One of the top adrenaline spots in the province! Ride all 8 ziplines—the final one is absolutely unforgettable. Booking in advance is a must.

📍 Canada Fossil Discovery Centre

Dinosaurs galore! A must-see for anyone curious about ancient life and prehistoric adventures.

📍 Hunter Lake Trail

The longest trail I’ve done so far (~16 km), but every step is worth it for the breathtaking views.

📍 Pinawa Dam

Love this spot—multiple dams, perfect oars, BBQ area, and a playground.

📍 Pinawa Suspension Bridge

The suspension bridge is thrilling—a little scary, but totally worth it!

📍 Gimli Beach

Always stunning—soft sand and sparkling waters. Sometimes words aren’t needed!

📍 Reynolds Pond – Lakes near Richer

Blue-blue water perfect for a peaceful escape into nature… and fishing! 🎣

📍 Grand Beach

Soft, soft sand and the gentle sounds of nature—you might even spot some beavers!

📍 The Night Start Trail

A quirky “driving hike”—a fun adventure if you’re into mushroom hunting or just exploring offbeat trails.

📍 Steinbach Airport

Fly in and enjoy the skies! According to , this is the ultimate gift experience—remember to book ahead.

🇺🇦✨ Ukrainian Kyiv Pavilion at Folklorama, Winnipeg ✨🇺🇦
Not an ad — just my humble opinion 😊

It feels like a separate festival inside one pavilion: professional bands, cultural exhibitions, documentaries, masterclasses, a huge marketplace, and of course… endless traditional + modern Ukrainian food 🥟🍲💙💛

I’ve visited many pavilions this year, but this one truly stands out.

🌲✨ Hywire Zipline in Manitou!
We tried the 5-ride option, and it was my very first time ziplining — absolutely unforgettable! 💚 The views were breathtaking, the thrill was real, and the whole experience left me wanting more.

🚀 Next time, we’re going for the full 8 rides — because once you start, you just can’t get enough!

📸 When you love to travel solo… but still want the perfect shot.

Taking photos of yourself while traveling alone isn’t always easy — but it is possible. A little improvisation can go a long way. And honestly, it makes the memories even more fun.

✨ Tip: use benches, trees, bags, shoes — whatever works — and don’t be shy about taking 10+ shots to get the one.

🏺 Pointe-à-Callière, cité d'archéologie et d'histoire de Montréal
A must-visit place in Montréal!

The best spot to take pictures, dive into local history and culture — and yes, even become a pirate for a day. 🏴‍☠️

This museum isn’t just one building — it’s a cluster of museums under one roof, or better said… underground! One ticket gives you access to layers of history, archaeology, and interactive exhibits.

The Pointe-à-Callière Museum is truly a complex of historic and archaeological wonders.

🌀 In the photo: I’m standing in front of a breathtaking art-meets-history installation made entirely of ceramic pieces — just one of many unforgettable exhibits inside.

I’ll definitely be sharing more about this museum later — it’s that good.

🏛️ Administration Building, University of Manitoba

Constructed between 1911 and 1913, it originally served as the core of the Manitoba Agricultural College.

Designed by Samuel Hooper and Victor W. Horwood, the building blends neoclassical elegance with prairie history — a place where education, architecture, and time meet.

🕰️ Over 110 years of legacy
🎓 The oldest university in Western Canada (founded in 1877)
📖 Listed in multiple architectural and historical archives

Would you like to explore the inside next time? I will 😉

🛡️ Khotyn Fortress – Where Time Stands Still 🏰 Державний історико-архітектурний заповідник "Хотинська фортеця"
📍 Khotyn, Ukraine

If you’ve ever dreamt of walking into a medieval fairytale, this is the place.

Nestled in the heart of lush Ukrainian landscapes, Khotyn Fortress (Хотинська фортеця) rises proudly above the Dniester River, its stone towers whispering stories of knights, invaders, and long-forgotten battles.

🚍 How we got there:
We traveled from Kamianets-Podilskyi to Khotyn by local bus. After exploring the fortress, we hopped on another local bus to Chernivtsi. Easy, affordable, and scenic all the way!

⏰ Plan for 6–7 hours in Khotyn.
That’s enough to explore, relax, and take in the views. Just make sure to bring food or snacks — there aren’t many options around the fortress itself.

What I loved most?
👉 The interior feels like a real fort, not a modern museum packed with unrelated exhibits.
👉 The walls are massive — standing beside them makes you feel small in the best way.
👉 It’s raw, authentic, and full of medieval spirit.

🌿 Walk the old wooden bridge
🧱 Touch the weathered fortress walls
📸 Capture the endless green hills behind it

For anyone chasing hidden gems and history-rich spots, this is one of the most captivating places I’ve visited.

🌋 You absolutely must visit this place in Banff!
📍 Cave and Basin National Historic Site — the birthplace of Canada’s first national park!

This spot is not only stunning but also deeply historic — human presence here dates back over 12,000 years. 🤯

In 1885, Banff Hot Springs Reserve was officially opened here. Since then, it has become a symbol of Canada’s protected natural heritage. 🌿

🐌 And here’s something wild: unique snails live here that don’t exist anywhere else in the world!

🚶‍♀️ We walked to this magical place, but you can also reach it by bus or car.
📸 It’s a perfect photo spot — just look at this breathtaking view!

🥚 P.S. Don’t be surprised by the smell inside — it’s a bit like boiled eggs (thank the sulfur springs! 😅)

👉 Don’t just stop at the cave. Take a walk around — the trails, the views, and the peaceful vibes are totally worth it.
