Why We Remain Poor As À Nation
When all the money we earn ends up buying imported rice, technology, clothing, and basically everything else, we should not be surprised that our nations remain poor.
Even when we borrow money from developed countries, practicing what we are not, and inject it into our economy only to turn around and spend it on the purchase of most expensive cars, wines, and other imported goods, we are simply returning the money to them and sinking deeper into poverty.
If we cannot keep the money we earn circulating within our communities for some time and use it to generate wealth by producing and selling valuable goods and services to other nations, we will continue complaining while remaining stuck in the same cycle.
We know what to do if we intentionally want to break free from our current impasse. We must learn to keep the little money we have within our communities. You cannot spend billions each year on anything and everything and still expect the economy to grow. We cannot eat our cake and have it.
We are poor because, in many ways, we choose to remain poor. All the money we make year in and year out goes to wealthy nations through what we consume in technology, food, furniture, clothing, medicine, and more. Those in our communities who trade in these goods get very rich, but the broader economy is depleted of its small wealth, as money becomes scarce after being sent out of our shores. There are many practices that drain money from our economy, and these need to be stopped if we truly want to prosper.
