HANDLING IN TRANSIT AND SECURING HEAVY CARGO.

At Agora Shipping & Logistics, our goal is to combine lifting (manual handling) and securing (road safety) procedures to protect both staff and our clients' goods. 🚧

For heavy cargo, it's zero risk and zero damage. Good safety starts with proper securing and controlled movements. ⚙️

Zone 1: Manual Handling (Movements and Postures) Objective: To prevent lower back pain and back injuries. If it's heavy, carry with a partner! (or use a mechanical lift) Straight back, knees bent: Never lift with your back. Load close to the body: Keep the load at waist level. No twisting: Pivot with your feet, not your waist.✅

Zone 2: Securing Cargo En Route (Cargo Security) Objective: To prevent cargo from falling and road accidents. Systematic check: Inspect the straps before each departure and regularly while en route. Standardized securing: Use straps in good condition, not ropes. Securing and blocking: Prevent the load from shifting (50% of the weight to the sides, 80% to the front). Protect corners: Use corner protectors to prevent the straps from shearing.✅

Zone 3: Customer-Specific Goods Instructions Floor cleanliness: The floor must be clean and dry before loading. Load distribution: Balance the weight for vehicle stability. Your safety is our priority; the integrity of the cargo is our commitment. ✅

In the first quarter of 2025, Cameroon's trade balance improved significantly. The deficit narrowed to 32.7 billion FCFA, compared to 273 billion FCFA in the same period of 2024, representing a decrease of 88%.

This improvement was driven by an exceptional increase in exports (+35.3%), which more than offset the more moderate growth in imports (+4.7%).

A notable improvement even excluding crude oil.
Excluding crude oil, the trade deficit also narrowed, reaching 245 billion FCFA, an improvement of 53% compared to the first quarter of 2024.
The coverage ratio (exports/imports ratio) increased sharply:
97.2% in the first quarter of 2025, compared to 75.2% a year earlier;

78.7% excluding crude oil, representing a gain of more than 26 percentage points.
These trends reflect much more dynamic growth in exports than in imports. Exports: A Record Performance Driven by Cocoa
Export revenues continued their upward trend observed since 2023. They reached 1,118 billion FCFA in the first quarter of 2025, compared to 826 billion FCFA a year earlier, thus exceeding the symbolic threshold of 1,000 billion FCFA in a single quarter for the first time in several years.

This increase is primarily linked to higher international prices, as export volumes remained generally stable. Three products dominated exports:
Liquefied natural gas: 122 billion FCFA (10.9%)
Cocoa beans: 500.3 billion FCFA (44.8%)
→ benefiting from the sharp rise in global prices.

Crude petroleum oils: 212 billion FCFA (19%)
Imports: a moderate increase, but a decrease over the quarter
Cameroon's imports reached 1,150 billion FCFA, an increase of 4.7% compared to the first quarter of 2024.
However, compared to the previous quarter, a notable decrease of 15% was observed.
Import volumes increased slightly, from 2.4 to 2.5 million tons, representing a 2.7% rise.

The five main import categories account for more than 50% of the total import bill:
Hydrocarbons: 16.3%
(of which 13.5% is for fuels and lubricants)
Cereals: 11.2%
(of which 7.1% is for rice and 3.8% for wheat)
Machinery and mechanical equipment: 8.8%
Electrical machinery and equipment: 7.7%
Vehicles and tractors: 6.8%

--------------------------------------------------------

97,2% au premier trimestre 2025, contre 75,2% un an plus tôt ;

Hydrocarbures : 16,3%
(dont 13,5% pour les carburants et lubrifiants)
Céréales : 11,2%
(dont 7,1% pour le riz et 3,8% pour le blé)
Machines et appareils mécaniques : 8,8%
Machines et appareils électriques : 7,7%
Véhicules et tracteurs : 6,8%
