I stood at the roof of the world, and the universe offered me a miracle.
There are no words big enough for this feeling. This is Mount Everest—Chomolungma, the “Mother Goddess of the World.” At 8,848 meters, it’s not just the highest peak on Earth; it’s a silent, colossal monument to the power of nature.
I was prepared for its size, but I wasn’t prepared for its grace. As the sun began to set, something magical happened: 日照金山 (rì zhào jīn shān). It translates to “Sunshine on the Golden Mountain,” a fleeting moment where the sun’s last rays paint the peak in a blazing, liquid gold. It’s a sacred phenomenon, a blessing in Tibetan culture, and to witness it on a perfectly clear day felt like the mountain itself was welcoming us.
To see the entire tip, unobscured and brilliant, then watch it transform into a literal golden mountain… it’s a moment that etches itself onto your soul. This wasn’t just a trip; it was a conversation with the divine.
The full, emotional journey to Everest Base Camp is coming soon to my YouTube. I can’t wait to share more of this magic with you.
