From static to dynamic: a practical LED solution for outdoor totem structures
Not every outdoor advertising structure needs to stay static.
For existing totems or billboard structures, adding an outdoor LED display can be a practical way to upgrade the location into a more dynamic and higher-value digital asset.
Here is one typical concept we recently worked on:
Outdoor Totem LED Display
Screen size: 2.88m(W) × 9.6m(H)
Cabinet size: 960 × 960 mm
Layout: 3 columns × 10 rows = 30 cabinets
For this kind of application, the LED screen is usually fixed onto a customized steel support structure, then connected to the existing totem body or main structure.
A practical installation concept normally includes:
Outdoor full-color LED cabinets
Secondary steel structure for cabinet fixing
Existing totem body as primary support
Waterproof finishing and decoration cladding
Rear maintenance access if site conditions allow
For projects like shopping malls, roadside landmarks, commercial signage or high-visibility outdoor branding locations, the key is not only the screen itself.
What really matters is whether the solution is designed with full consideration of:
viewing distance
structural feasibility
maintenance access
waterproof treatment
long-term outdoor stability
For a vertical outdoor totem like this, P6.67, P8 or P10 are usually the practical options, depending on image requirement, viewing distance and budget.
A good LED project is not just about putting a screen on a structure.
It is about turning the structure into a reliable digital communication point.
If you are evaluating an outdoor totem, pylon sign, or billboard upgrade, I’d be happy to share more practical layout and structure ideas.
