📍 Latvia

This is the Great Kemeri Bog Walk … a fantastic boardwalk through the bog — one of the most interesting places we’ve been across the globe.

How to get here ..

🚉 Take the train to Kemeri Station from Riga

🚶 Walk for one hour, following the signs to the national park. Yes.. it’s an hour walk, and no there’s no reliable way around it unless you have a rental car.

Walking Directions :
1. Left out of the train station.
2. Cross the rail road tracks by walking on the road.
3. Continue down the road until you see a tower on the right and a path.
4. Walk that path to the main highway.
5. Cross the highway (be careful cars are fast)
6. Continue down the dirt road past the cemetery.
7. Keep walking .. it really is a ways!
8. Entering the parking lot, walk through the lot and follow signs to the Great Bog Boardwalk
9. Allow for an hour to walk the boardwalk and enjoy the views.
10. Come back the same way you came.. be sure to leave with enough time to catch the last train!

This place is unreal and a great nature escape right outside the city!

📍 Kemeri National Park | Latvia

Most people head here for sunrise, but we were on the public transportation schedule, and sunrise arrival wasn’t an option.

Instead, we packed a picnic and went for sunset.. hoping to catch the epic skies on the bog.

This is Sigulda! 👇🏼

Sigulda is home to so many fun activities, and is great for those traveling with kids. You can try bobsledding, ziplining, visit multiple castles, and even play at multiple different parks, some even having pump tracks for the kids.

We enjoyed a half day in Sigulda hiking from the train station to multiple castles, up through the woods, and to the Baltic’s largest grotto — Gutman’s Cave!

A fun little half day adventure via train from Riga!

Would you visit here?

We flew to Riga on a whim… and left only wanting to return!

Jay heard of Riga when he was in Estonia… But we never really knew much about the city.

When our Euro van broke down for the third time, it just happened to be a holiday weekend and Latvia was one of the few places we could go, last minute within our budget.

We packed up our backpacks, grabbed Georgie and flew to Riga to be blown away with the city, the nature, and the food.

Check out detail details of the locations in this video and more places to explore in Riga on Arboursabroad (.) com.

Back in April, when our van broke down for the third time… we said screw it and flew to Latvia.

We found the cheapest tickets for a holiday weekend on an airline Georgie was allowed on, and left not knowing what was waiting for us when we landed.

And what we found, HOLY SMOKES!

Riga, Latvia is a little hidden gem.

You would never know we visited, because we never posted about it — but I’m starting to get the first of our posts on Riga live on the website, so I thought I’d share on here too!

If you’re looking for a European city with amazing nature and the cutest Old Town, look no further than Riga, Latvia!

One Day in Aachen, Germany

We’ve visited Aachen on two different occasions, both for only a day each.

Naturally, we found ourselves getting lost beneath the towering Aachen Cathedral… but the good news is, that’s where Aachen comes to life.

Being a college town, Aachen is the perfect place to grab cheap eats from AKL Lebanese Restaurant, local beers from Rewe City, and sit on the steps on the backside of the Town Hall to enjoy people, the cathedral, and the lively city.

We stayed at two different locations in Aachen, the first place was at A&O Hostel, which is great if you’re on a super budget.. and the second at B & B Hotel Aachen — which we really enjoyed.

Both places are near the train station and just outside the main city center — which makes for a great walk in and out of town finding local coffee shops and yummy grab and go food.

Questions about Aachen, Germany — drop them below & be sure to head to ArboursAbroad . com for a more in depth guide!
