Great article by from "View from the Wing" about service while . Especially the part about coffee on air is very interesting. It makes clear that:

☕ Real coffee enjoyment is still extremely rare. (But is very much missed).

✈️ Airlines and caterers are currently disregarding a high-profile opportunity to generate more revenue.

🙇 There is currently no way to satisfy the different coffee preferences of air travelers.

💦 The reason for the notoriously bad taste of airplane coffee is largely due to the use of inadequate on-board water.

In all humbility, we would like to point out that the word "still" is used in this context. With our , we are able to provide and (but also providers on the rail or for events), a system that eliminates all these disadvantages.

From June 14-16, 2022, we finally had trade show again – and the opportunity to see , , and customers in person as well. And to initiate exciting new contacts.

The schedule was packed and SkyTender trolleys could be seen all over the grounds. Already at the entrance the visitors were welcomed with delicious coffee specialties from a SkyBarista Trolley.

The seating area at the entrance of Hall A was completely branded with SkyTender and our Coffee Club on Board. Here, too, the coffee offer was gladly accepted and many visited our booth afterwards.
Furthermore, our trolleys could be found at our partners , Dr. Suwelack and Bucher.

Phd. Alba Bala from the UNESCO Chair in Life Cycle and Climate Change ESCI-UPF presented a summary of the new UNESCO Life Cycle Assessment on beverage in at our booth at WTCE. The results in the summary:

– SkyTender System performs better than the current system in all cases.

– Climate Change, Ecotoxicity Freshwater, Resources use fossils and Photochemical Ozone Formation are the most relevant impact categories linked to on-board catering systems. 

– The flight stage is, by far, the most environmental harmful stage, followed by the production of , and all needed equipment.

– Savings on Climate Change range from 55% to 84%, depending on the scenario.

We wish everyone here a happy Earth Day.

The motto of this year’s Earth Day is: . And yes, that’s what we’re doing: As a company, we work year-round to make beverage catering more sustainable. Not only for our customers in the aviation, rail and event industries - but also for our children. That’s why our slogan is “We serve our planet”. Therefore, we are very happy that the UNESCO Chair in Life Cycle and Climate Change has now independently confirmed that our SkyTender beverage system for aviation reduces the carbon footprint by 50% compared to currently used solutions.

In addition, this will be the first time in the history of commercial aviation that reliable figures are available on the impact of beverage catering on the environment.

After successful certification by EASA, SkyTenders SkyBarista coffee systems are ready to roll-out.

Making it possible for its first customers - some leading airline caterers and the world‘s leading low-cost carriers - to prepare and serve fresh coffee specialties such as espresso, cappucino or flat white directly at the seat for the first time.
Successfully conducted test trials show that both passengers and flying personnel are enthusiastic about the new solution - taste-wise and commercially.

service has not necessarily improved since the early days of commercial aviation. The desire for efficiency and cost pressures have resulted in the passenger experience increasingly falling by the wayside. Not to mention the growing mountains of trash. It's time to combine excellent service, beverage quality and environmental awareness into an innovative service.

With SkyTender's SkyBarista, passengers can enjoy freshly brewed coffee specialties such as espresso, cappuccino or flat white right at their seat. And the Splash serves fresh, chilled and fully carbonated soft drinks and water. As a result, it reduces waste (especially plastic bottles and aluminum cans) by about 80%!
