Holding onto every drop of late-summer magic as September rolls in—because while autumn is technically here, Copenhagen can still serve up those warm, sunlit, golden-hour days. From canal-side family moments in Christianshavn to quiet cobblestone strolls and palace courtyard views, here’s a look back at our favorite August moments.

Stepping into Pistolstræde (Pistol Alley) feels like leaving the bustling city behind and entering a hidden European courtyard.

​Tucked away right off Strøget (Østergade), this is easily one of Copenhagen's most charming hidden passages. Keep your eyes open as you walk along the main shopping street, or you might completely miss the narrow gateway that leads into this quiet oasis of colorful half-timbered houses, cozy outdoor cafes, and vintage boutiques!

​FACTS:
​The Shape & Name: The alley gets its unique name from its historical L-shape layout—the narrow 3-meter entrance represents the barrel, while the wider inner courtyard forms the "grip" of a pistol.

​Historic Architecture: Most of the vibrant half-timbered houses surrounding the passage date all the way back to the 1730s.

​TIPS:
​Nearest Metro: Kongens Nytorv Metro Station (M1, M2, M3, M4) is less than a 3-minute walk away. Exit toward Østergade/Strøget.

​Tourist Tip: Visit during lunchtime to enjoy outdoor seating at La Vecchia Signora or Restaurant L'Alsace for a quiet meal surrounded by historic architecture, away from the heavy crowds on Strøget.

Advert Élan Restaurant - An unbelievable dinner at Élan Restaurant! We spent a long, cozy evening in their courtyard enjoying the tasting menu—perfect for taking in the summer warmth. If you prefer dining indoors, they also have plenty of beautiful, cozy seating inside.

Every single course was served with perfect timing by the incredibly friendly staff. Highlight of the night: the fresh tuna tartare and the melt-in-your-mouth veal tenderloin!

Here is a look at what we had:
- Course 1: Almonds & marinated olives, cod croquettes with tomato aioli, and olive focaccia with olive oil and balsamic, enjoyed with a glass of alcohol-free white wine.
- Course 2: Melon & tomato salad with mint & feta, stracciatella with tomato & pistachio, and tuna tartare with avocado & sesame.
- Course 3: Veal tenderloin served with summer greens, carrot purée, potatoes, and demi-glace. For drinks, Maro had a Brooklyn "Special Effects" alcohol-free beer and Maxi enjoyed a Classic Draft beer.
- Course 4: We shared the chocolate mousse, tiramisu, and Rødgrød med fløde—a must-try traditional Danish dessert.

​Historical Roots:
The Latin Quarter gets its name from the Latin language, which was once spoken by students and scholars at the neighboring University of Copenhagen.

​Oldest Neighborhood: Larsbjørnsstræde is situated in one of the oldest surviving residential areas of the inner city, featuring buildings that date back to the 18th century following the Great Fire of Copenhagen.

​TIP:
Take your time exploring the second-hand clothing racks hanging right on the street walls and have a coffee/drink and something to eat in this charming area!

Riding the iconic red S-trains through Copenhagen! Here’s a quick look at the journey through Carlsberg Station and inside the signature DSB carriages.

​FACTS
The Copenhagen S-train system (S-tog) has been running since 1934, making it one of the oldest electric commuter rail networks in Europe. The letter "S" originally stood for Station, marked by the hexagonal red signs outside each stop, though locals also say it stands for Stadsbane (City Line).

​TIP
You can bring your bicycle on board all Copenhagen S-trains. Just look for the special bike symbol on the train doors to board the dedicated bicycle carriages.

​💡 Tourist Tip: Rent a self-driven GoBoat to navigate the canals, or grab some drinks and snacks to chill on the wooden steps at Papirøen for the ultimate free sunset view!

​Did you know? Papirøen (Paper Island) used to be a massive storage site for newsprint rolls used by the Danish press before being transformed into this iconic harbor spot! 🗞️🇩🇰

Stepping into Amalienborg Palace Square feels like walking straight onto a movie set! 🇩🇰 Between the majestic Marble Church in the background, the daily march of the Royal Life Guard, and the views extending clear across the harbor to the Opera House, it is easily one of the most iconic spots in the city.

​TIP:
To see the Changing of the Guard in full effect, head to the square around 12:00 PM (noon). The guards march daily from their barracks at Rosenborg Castle starting at 11:30 AM and arrive right at noon at Amalienborg. Arrive 15 minutes early to secure a good spot near the fountain for photos!

Easy Transfers: København H is the ultimate central hub. Once you arrive, you can effortlessly transfer to the red DSB S-trains (for inner-city & suburban neighborhoods), hop on the Metro, or board regional trains to explore the rest of Denmark and Sweden.

One Ticket Fits All: The same ticket or pass (like the City Pass or Copenhagen Card) covers your transit across the train, S-train, metro, and bus systems. Always remember to validate or purchase your ticket before boarding to avoid hefty fines!
