Here's a rule that changes everything: the 3-wood rule.

On any hole where driver leaves you under 100 yards to the flag and you're not confident carrying a hazard, hit 3-wood. You give up 30 yards and gain something worth far more: position.

I've played with golfers who hit driver on every tee and shoot 88. I've played with golfers who haven't touched their driver in three years and shoot 76.
