💙 Blue Footed Bo***es Surprise Newcomers to the Galápagos Islands on Santa Cruz 🤩

After taking the bus ride from Baltra's Galápagos Ecological Airport Aeropuerto Seymour, you never know what might happen next as you take the next step in your journey to Santa Cruz island via water taxi. While we were completing our water taxi journey, these Blue Footed Bo***es spied fish. Working together, they fished as one. These birds are not fed at the ports, but must be vigilant hunters to remain healthy and vibrant. Take time to look both in the water and the sky so you never miss a moment even on something that may seem mundane such as a water taxi. You never know what you can expect to find, and each time is unique.

No scuba certification needed! Unlike most other destinations, marine wildlife is accessible by snorkeling. They also are less bothered by snorkeling than scuba diving because there are no loud sounds and bubbles coming from you. This creates accessible sea life experiences like this one we had with the spotted eagle rays in the Galapagos Islands

📸 Adventure Photography Dream at the Active Volcano, Sierra Negra 🌋

The Sierra Negra is one of the largest and most important active volcanoes in the world.

You can hike down inside the volcano and see the fumaroles pour gas, known as the Sulphur Mines, and create sulphuric crystals. This shield volcano is the second largest active volcanic crater in the world. The caldera has a depth of 100 meters (328 feet), and its enormous magma chamber is 6 kilometers (approx 3.7 miles) in diameter.

The hike ranges from moderate to strenuous depending on the speed you take it at as well as weather conditions as there is no shade, steep inclines and stairs.

Groups tours for Sierra Negra or the Sulphur Mines will often observe from a further distance and may not allow you to stop due to time constraints for the next tour, making it one of the important times to book a private tour.

This enormous Spiny Red Lobster I found at Los Tuneles was quite the shellebrity 🦞🤩

The Galapagos Islands hosts these and two other lobster species - the clawless, nocturnal Galapagos Slipper Lobster who hides in rocky crevasses and caves and the Spiny Green Lobster who, unlike his red spiny counterpart, enjoys living in mangrove lined lagoons and bays with sandy bottoms.

Galapagos sea lions do most of their hunting at night, so it's no surprise this guy is just rolling around on the shore tired early on this Monday morning 😴
