The recognition followed a detailed tourism dossier, prepared with support from Egypt's Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Tourism and Antiquities, highlighting Aswan's economic, cultural, and heritage strengths.

The submission emphasized the city's diverse tourism offerings-cultural and archaeological sites, environmental and leisure activities, therapeutic tourism, Nile-based experiences, safaris, fishing, and birdwatching. Officials noted that the award reflects both the depth and diversity of Aswan's tourism portfolio and its long-standing historical and cultural significance.
