كشفت البعثة الأثرية المصرية بموقع الشيخ سوبي بالواحات البحرية عن مقابر ومومياوات وتوابيت وتماثيل نذرية، في كشف أثري جديد يزيح الستار عن شواهد جديدة من التاريخ المصري القديم، ويلقي الضوء على جانب من أسرار الحضارة المصرية الممتدة عبر العصور.

كنيسة العذراء والملاك ميخائيل ببورسعيد والتي تشتهر بكاتدرائية العذراء والملاك ميخائيل كانت تابعة للكاثوليك اللاتينيين في وقتًا سابق ولكنها الأن أصبحت تابعة للطائفة الأرثوذكسية.

عام 1930 أمر البابا بيوس الـ 11 بابا الكنيسة الكاثوليكية في ذلك الوقت ببناء "كاتدرال مريم" تكريمًا للسيدة العذراء مريم وأشترط أن تكون مدخل قناة السويس في بورسعيد حيث وصف بابا الفاتيكان هذا الموقع بأنه "بوابة العالم".

وقد صمم تلك الكاتدرائية الرائعة المهندس الفرنسى جان هولوه الحائز على الجائزة الأولى في المعمار من روما وبدأ العمل في هذا المشروع عام 1934 وتم افتتاحها عام 1937.

وصُممت الكاتدرائية على شكل سفينه نوح رمزًا لخلاص العالم وتنقسم إلى 3 أقسام منفصلة وبها من الخارج 6 منارات صغيرة ومنارة واحدة كبيرة وسقف الكنيسة من الخارج مكتوب عليه Avemarla والتي تعني "تحيا مريم" .

ويرتفع برج أجراس الكاتدرائية عاليًا حيث يستطيع المسافرين رؤيته من على بُعد وهو يعتبر رمزًا لسلامة الطريق.

وتتميز الكاتدرائية بوجود هيكل لاتيني ساحر وقبة هذا الهيكل مُثبته على 12 عمود وتربط بينهم شبكة من الحديد المشغول على شكل تاج وقد قامت برسم نقوشها الفنانة سوزان فريمون حيث نرى داخل القبة 3 دوائر ومجموعة من الملائكة وعددًا كبيرًا من العصافير وقد كُتبت بحروف من ذهب جملة تقول: "مريم ملكة الكون".

This ancient wooden vessel, known as one of the Abydos Boats, was buried in the sands of Abydos, Egypt, dating back to around 2950 BC during the 1st or 2nd Dynasty. Discovered beside the funerary complex of Pharaoh Khasekhemwy, it is among the oldest wooden ships ever found, revealing the remarkable maritime skills of the ancient Egyptians over 5,000 years ago.

Built from narrow wooden planks bound together with ropes and sealed with reeds or plant fibers, its graceful crescent shape suggests it was crafted for travel along the Nile or ceremonial processions. Although far too fragile to sail today, the preserved timbers of its hull and deck still whisper stories of royal funerals, sacred journeys, and a time when the voyage to the afterlife required not only faith—but a finely crafted ship.
