😱 Most tourists visit the Pyramids… but very few have heard of the place the ancient Egyptians considered even more sacred.

That place is Abydos.

More than 4,000 years ago, the ancient Egyptians believed this was the spiritual center of the cult of Osiris, the god of the afterlife. For them, a journey to Abydos was not just a trip—it was an act of faith.

Here, Pharaoh Seti I built one of the most beautiful temples in Egypt, later completed by his son, Ramesses II. Even today, the temple is famous for its incredibly well-preserved carvings.

Hidden inside is one of Egypt’s greatest historical treasures—the Abydos King List, where the names of 76 pharaohs helped historians reconstruct the timeline of Ancient Egypt.

And that’s not all…

Just 1.5 km (1 mile) from the temple, archaeologists discovered 14 wooden boats, nearly 5,000 years old—among the oldest wooden boats ever found in the world.
