Severine : Success story - Amina and her lovely sister Rahma came to stay with me in Brussels last week and we had a great time together, chatting, eating and visiting the city. I hope I will be able to visit them in Alger some time in the future!

Sarah : I’ve had consistently wonderful experiences with Host A Sister - both hosting and being hosted across different parts of the world. But this one truly stayed with me.

I’m here to share a special story about Kristi, who hosted me in New Orleans.

From the moment I arrived, Kristi Dayemo open her home, she made sure I experienced the very best of New Orleans. From thoughtfully curated recommendations to personally driving me to some of the best spots for dinner and local food, her warmth and generosity went far beyond what I expected.

And I cannot forget Milo, her adorable dog, who completely stole my heart. I’m pretty sure I left a piece of it behind with him.

Experiences like this restore your faith in people and remind you what this community is truly about - genuine connection, trust, and kindness between strangers who quickly become so much more.

Forever grateful for this experience 🤍

Paulina : Last week, I saw Lys’ post about looking for a host in Krakow, so I invited her to our (my + my husband’s) place. She turned out to be a super sweet person, and we had a wonderful time together in Krakow.

As a guest, she was so amazing and made us a delicious Taiwanese dish. I couldn’t imagine a better representative of a country I knew almost nothing about before - now we have to plan a trip to Taiwan. ;)

I wholeheartedly recommend Lys as both a guest and a person. 💖

Angel : I’d like to thank two generous sisters from for hosting me while I was in their City of Joy, Kolkata, India last week.

Madhu invited me to her home, where her whole 4-generation family welcomed me. Her mother gifted me with two sets of saree and cooked me Bengali thali (rice with dishes).

Rukshar met me in high street and took me to coffee in a 100yo bookstore and then to a Bengali thali dinner at a nice restaurant. She gifted me with a book about small towns in India.

Thank you, both Kolkatan sisters!

PS: I’d also like to thank Palak who was out of town, but offered her mom and sister to show me around! — at Kolkata - The City of Joy.

Swati : Michelle Lin and I met in Dolores park after a back and forth schedule clashing as I was leaving the city that day. She was so sweet to bring me and my friend food from her event earlier that day to enjoy during our drive to Reno. 🥹 ♥️We also experienced acrobatics yoga thanks to her where I realised the true potential of the human body 🤩.

Rhema Bethany and I came to know about each other through our amazing mutual Dawn Abbey who I had the privilege to meet up in LA. Rhema and I were in contact since then and she had been giving me tips for my solo trip. From information about public transports to helping with my itinerary she went far and beyond to guide me. She took me on a drive in “Highway 1” where I experienced the world’s most beautiful beaches (Pacifica, Rockaway and Montara beaches).🥰♥️ Being an international student I feel so fortunate to have experienced california’s surreal beauty all thanks to her. To add cherry on top we both share a passion for similar research. What a pleasure it was to talk about my research with an intellect like her and hear about hers too. 😍😍

Being a PhD and an international student is a tough and isolating sport. Travelling is therefore my way of having a balance in life. Now thanks to the Host A Sister group I get to have beautiful connections with sisters and create unforgettable memories. Their generosity and support always inspires me to travel more and that there is so much more to life than work and academia. ✨♥️

Maria : I posted in looking for a one-night stay in Bratislava for me and my well-travelled, curious 10-year-old nephew. My secret agenda was to show him what generosity, open-mindedness, and sisterhood look like in real life.

I also browsed the Bratislava posts, sent a few DMs, and soon found myself chatting and planning with Rozália.

She is the kindest, gentlest, most thoughtful host anyone could wish for. She was brilliant, she didn’t just open her home, she gave us her time (and made the most delicious pancakes for breakfast).🤩 She spent Saturday and Sunday morning with us, guiding us through the city in a way that really changed our experience.

Because of her, my nephew didn’t just see Bratislava, he experienced kindness and genuine human connection. On the way home he said: “We are friends with her now” 🥹

I’m so grateful for this community and for Rozi’s generosity!

And a huge thank you to Anna as well for the brilliant travel tips, they made our trip even richer! 🥰

This group really makes the world feel safer and kinder. ❤

(Photo was taken by my nephew 😊)

Nancy : Dolly was so kind: responding to my initial request to meet up in Bengaluru, giving me tips about India, and meeting me for lunch during a busy work day. She introduced me to the food of her hometown Kerala and we had this delicious Kerala meal 😋 while learning about each other’s lives and the worlds we live in that is both different and overlapping.

If anyone else wants to meet up in Bengaluru let me know 😊

Angelika : I’d love to share a beautiful experience I had thanks to this community.

In December last year, when I was in New York, Eva hosted me and opened her home to me with incredible kindness. I’m deeply grateful for that. From the very first moment, she made me feel welcome and at ease.

We discovered we had quite a lot in common and spent a really great time together. We went out to bars on Long Island, I tried a Philly cheesesteak with her, and when I later returned from Mexico for a few more days in New York, we did something truly special together.
We went to a gospel service in The Abyssinian Baptist Church in Harlem an experience I will never forget. Without Eva, this experience wouldn’t have been possible at all.
Thanks to her openness, I was able to experience something deeply meaningful and authentic.

Ewa didn’t just offer me a place to stay, she shared her world, her experiences, and helped me feel the city like a local. She is a very warm, and helpful person, and I’m incredibly thankful for her hospitality and friendship.

This is exactly what makes Host the Sister so special. 💛
