I was so happy when Lauren from UKSA Lauren Saltonstall Uksa invited Crewdar to take part in a career advice day at yesterday! ❤️

I will never tire of talking to yacht crew, at any level.

As a co-founder building a platform with a genuine desire to improve our industry, staying connected to crew is imperative.

Yachting is constantly moving and evolving, and I honestly can’t think of a single conversation - from green crew to executive level CEOs - where I haven’t walked away with a golden nugget of information to help us improve.

Because the truth is, you can’t build a platform for an industry without listening to the people who live and breathe it every day.

And as Johnny tells me, I could talk for England 😂

So, here’s to more conversations, more connections, more learning, and more moments like this. We’re all ears!

Lunch with a view!

I walked into the ‘office’ today to find Lady Duvera anchored right out front.

She hauled up anchor just as I finished my Caprese salad. It was a beautiful slice of lunch time entertainment for me (and the whole apartment complex 😉)

And also a bit of a reminder of how much my world has changed for the better.

Corporate life in Australia was basically skipping lunch altogether, or running to the nearest sushi roll joint (only Aussies or those who’ve spent time in Oz will understand how amazing these places are 🤤) and then running back to my desk to tackle emails until late 🥱

Although running a company feels, at times, like you’re working 24/7. There’s something to be said for walking to the beat of your own drum. It’s freedom 🙌

P.s. don’t judge the w**e. I’m still coming down from the ‘rosé all day’ Monaco Yacht Show vibes 😂

Day 1 of MYS is complete! 🙌

It’s always a crazy turn of events when you come to these boat shows. But Monaco always hits that little bit harder 😆

There was a lot more of a tech presence this year compared to past years. But for me it’s always all about the relationships ❤️

Connecting and conversing with likeminded individuals is my source of energy!

So grateful Monaco Yacht Show for the Wi-Fi this year 🙌. It was honestly a game changer. And also noticed a more streamlined approach to navigating the logistics of the show.

Let’s see what tomorrow holds….😊

New Live Job - Couple Team! 🚨 Charter Captain & Mate/Chef Couple Wanted!

A 20-30m charter sailing yacht running Caribbean seasons and New England summers with an active sailing family and their guests. Charters and high onboard standards are the heart of this role. Starting November.

Program Overview:
Owner is a competent sailor who sometimes cruises without crew — shore accommodation or holidays arranged around those times
Ocean deliveries between the Caribbean and US East Coast

Requirements:
Yachtmaster Offshore Commercially Endorsed, STCW, ENG 1
B1/B2 or right to work in the US (for the US summer season)
Minimum 2–3 seasons of sailing yacht charter experience on 40–60ft yachts
Strong seamanship, hands-on engineering and guest-focused presentation

Some much needed family time this summer.

If you don’t stop and smell the roses at times, the beautiful moments in life can slip by way too quickly.

Work / life balance has been challenging, to say the least. But nothing is more important than moments like these 💙

Hardcore realism - I absolutely suck at laundry.

I could blame it on the whole “I’m building a business as a mother with three kids”. But the bottom line is, I simply don’t enjoy it.

Of course when in yachting, I was very good at turning over laundry, folding, ironing. And give me a fitted sheet and a rolling machine - I was in OCD heaven!

But ultimately, it was never my vibe. And I never felt passionate about it. My strengths were elsewhere. Plus on Amadeus we had a dedicated, absolute legend of a Laundry Master, who would have been horrified to think about any of us stews messing with his well oiled laundry room machine! 🤣

But it makes me think. Do we need to add a sliding scale within 'skills' which could indicate how proficient / dedicated crew are in each skill?

I can guarantee that all hiring managers are going to have a much easier time finding / placing the right crew for the job, if crew were to be completely honest about where their strengths lie. And of course, these can be changed accordingly as you grow and develop throughout your career.

What do you think? Should we go for it?!
