Derniers jours d'août 2025 / Shikoku
L'heure de se quitter avec Antoni et Christopher a sonné, ce fut court, mais vraiment une superbe rencontre ! 🙌
On aura pédalé toute la journée ensemble de la moitié de la Shimanami Kaidô jusque la ville de Shikokuchuo en passant par la vaste zone de Imabari ... 🔥
Les gars veulent s'arrêter, moi je veux pousser un peu car le lendemain, je souhaite m'enfoncer un peu plus dans les montagnes. 👍
Pour mon plus grand plaisir je retrouverai Christopher 1 mois plus t**d dans la banlieue de Tokyo pour un moment rock&roll 😂
Après avoir passer la nuit dans le parc de Miyoshi, je continue mon ascension vers le col de Misato avec plus de 1000 de dénivelé positif 😁 ici ça rigole pas, on retrouve très souvent des passages de col à 15% et la descente du col se fait à 16% 😅🥳
En revanche, les paysages sont sauvages, on est plongé dans une forêt mystique et humide tout du long de la route, la brume et les maisons abandonnées le long de la route rajoutent de l'intensité à ce sentiment 😶🌫️
Je m'arrêterais le soir dormir non loin d'une station routière à Kamiyama bien avant de retrouver la ville ! Mais dès le lendemain matin, je fais la rencontre de Sean qui passe par là, un américain de Seattle installé à Tokushima depuis de nombreuses années ! 🙌
Le gars est un vrai cycliste passionné, ancien collaborateur chez Rapha à Seattle, et amoureux de nature et de cette île si particulière ! 🥳
Une vrai rencontre, car depuis plusieurs mois, nous gardons toujours le contact 🔥👍
Il m'accompagnera jusqu'au Ferry qui me permettra de regagner Honshu et la ville de Wakayama et de poursuivre ma route jusque Nara 🦌🪭🗾🇯🇵
Des fois, je me demande vraiment pourquoi je ne suis pas resté plus longtemps sur cette île méconnue et si particulière... 🤔🥲

🇬🇧 Late August 2025 / Shikoku
The time came to part ways with Antoni and Christopher; it was a brief encounter, but a truly fantastic one! 🙌
We cycled together all day, going from the midpoint of the Shimanami Kaidō to the city of Shikokuchuo, passing through the vast Imabari area... 🔥
The guys wanted to stop, but I wanted to push on a bit further because I planned to head deeper into the mountains the next day. 👍
To my delight, I’d run into Christopher again a month later in the Tokyo suburbs for a bit of a rock 'n' roll time! 😂
After spending the night in Miyoshi Park, I continued my climb toward Misato Pass, gaining over 1,000 meters in elevation. 😁 It was no joke—there were frequent 15% gradients on the way up, and the descent was a steep 16%! 😅🥳
On the upside, the scenery was wild; the entire route was immersed in a mystical, damp forest, with mist and abandoned houses along the way adding to the intense atmosphere. 😶🌫️
I stopped for the night near a roadside station in Kamiyama, well before reaching the city! But the very next morning, I met Sean—an American from Seattle who has lived in Tokushima for years—as he was passing through! 🙌
He’s a truly passionate cyclist, a former Rapha employee from Seattle, and a lover of nature and this unique island! 🥳
A genuine connection—we’ve stayed in touch ever since, even months later 🔥👍
He’s going to see me off at the ferry that will take me back to Honshu—specifically to the city of Wakayama—so I can continue my journey to Nara 🦌🪭🗾🇯🇵
Sometimes I really wonder why I didn't stay longer on this little-known yet truly unique island... 🤔🥲
(Maybe so I have a better reason to come back! 😍)
