Solo traveling in Japan wasn’t always peaceful—
but it was deeply transformative 🌿

3 weeks wandering off the beaten path.
Kyushu, San’in, Okinawa… no big cities, no strict plan.
Just me, local trains, quiet moments, and places that don’t make it to the guidebooks.

Even though the sun is playing hide and seek, the magic of slow travel is here: driving without rushing, stopping for unexpected encounters, and savoring every moment.

Some of my favorite sacred places in Japan 🇯🇵

Japanese sanctuaries have a special kind of peace—the quiet footsteps on stone paths, the scent of incense, the way they feel timeless.

Watching a priestess at Meiji Jingu, a priest in Okayama, or simply taking in the view of Mt. Fuji from a shrine—these moments stay with me. I could wander around temples forever ⛩️

Visiting one of the most sacred places in Japan: Koya-san and Okunoin Cemetery 🪦

Okunoin Cemetery feels like another world. The dense forest of towering cedar trees casts long shadows over ancient tombstones, slowly disappearing under thick layers of moss.

The air is damp, filled with the scent of earth and old stone. It’s quiet, but not empty—you can feel something watching. A deer stands between the trees, still, almost blending into the mist.

Here, you’re not just walking through a cemetery. You’re stepping into sacred ground, where nature and spirits exist side by side.
