A little local review…..

Me and my husband Ric visited The Lounge Hotel and Bar, Penrith for lunch a few weeks ago and were really impressed overall. The venue has been beautifully refurbished and has a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The menu offers a great selection of dishes, including some tempting specials.

Ric ordered the Italian meatballs with sweet potato fries — the meatballs were a hit and he’d happily order them again. The sweet potato fries were tasty but a little soft rather than crispy. We also shared some halloumi fries which were perfectly cooked and delicious.

I tried the peri chicken loaded fries from the specials menu — full of flavour and generous in portion, but much spicier than expected (and I usually handle spice well!).

Booking online that morning was quick and easy, and the overall experience was really enjoyable. We’d happily visit again.

🎄✨ Festive Facts: European Christmas Markets ✨🎄

✨ The oldest Christmas market still running today is in Dresden, Germany (since 1434!).
✨ The Vienna Christmas Dream market transforms the whole City Hall square with 150+ stalls and an enormous ice rink.
✨ In Nuremberg, the Christkind (Christmas Angel) officially opens the market every year with a speech.
✨ Strasbourg is known as the Capital of Christmas and hosts over 300 stalls across the city.
✨ Cologne’s Cathedral Market attracts more than 4 million visitors each year.
✨ Prague’s Christmas tree in the Old Town Square is sourced from the Czech mountains and lit with a huge countdown ceremony.
✨ Budapest combines tradition with fun – their markets often include 3D light shows projected onto St Stephen’s Basilica.
✨ Many markets serve local festive treats: think German bratwurst, Hungarian chimney cakes, Austrian apple strudel, and mulled wine in collectible mugs you can take home.

No two Christmas markets are ever the same – every city has its own unique magic. 🌟

Would you love to tick one off your bucket list this year? ❄️
