Cleared my calendar yesterday to spend some time on Barbie Dart. Forgot the jump pack and wasted what was left in the batteries for a photo šŸ˜… hoping to spend some more time on it soon and get it going, a good wash will certainly be in order!

I’ve been holding off my judgement on EVs until I had a chance to drive one, and I had my training yesterday. Spent 90 mins behind the wheel of the E100, and that thing could pin you to your seat if you weren’t careful. It drove well, and had decent AC (for the time being). As for the StreetDeck Repower, it was pleasant, but nothing to write home about. Whilst the future is here, and EVs are just another day at the office, my preference is with a certain Deutz D7C powered B7 😁

A fan submission! Whilst none of the Pointers lasted long enough to wear the Bath City livery, this was sent in as a bit of a ā€œwhat ifā€. I actually quite like it, and whilst Barbie Dart is some time away from repaint, this may be an option šŸ‘€

Where does the time go! Two years ago I went up to see Badgers with every intention of making it mine, with a deal very quickly being reached. Kinda strange that 11 years ago I seen her at WM on a visit, and cabbing her later that year at the Badgerline 30 event after becoming the Badgerline Heritage bus - little did I know I’d end up buying it in 2024!

Curious to know about other people’s experiences/reactions when they get challenged for photographing buses? Most city services in Bath are circulars, so I seldom get a chance to get out the cab to grab a photo. My bus was empty at Coombe Down, so I quickly hopped out for a shot. As I’m walking back, a man asks me why I’m being weird and taking pictures of buses. Thinking on my feet I say it’s for the staff newsletter. He replies saying I’m not weird if that’s the case. Why not stick to your business, and leave me to mine?

Another 2am finish today, and as I was pulling up to the fuel line, this was the sight that greeted me. The B9 Geminis are a dying breed in Bristol, but are slowly growing in numbers here in Bath, even if we are an ADL depot. For buses that are 17 years old, they still perform very well. Will be a shame once they’re fully withdrawn. As you can see, the electrification of Weston Island is well underway.
