This UNESCO World Heritage Site in Carcassonne is a MUST visit if you are staying nearby in the South of France 🇫🇷

It’s free to walk around and it is just beautiful weaving your way through the ancient streets of this citadel 🏰 there’s lots of shops, bars and restaurants too. So you can easily spend all day here.

It’s not surprising that it gets busy especially in summer. We like to visit in October when the temperatures are cooler and it’s not as crowded.

If you’re going with little ones it’s worth noting that it’s not the most buggy friendly terrain but it’s manageable. Also some restaurants didn’t have high chairs.

Did you know there’s only one week left to visit Rougham PYO Sunflowers🌻

We love going here every year, it’s such an amazing free family place. There’s lots to do including picking your own sunflowers, ride on tractors, face painting and sandpits. You can spend a good few hours here. The yummy food stalls also help!

I’ve seen lots of people have already visited but if you still haven’t make sure you do before it closes for the season.

AD | Yesterday we hopped aboard from Felixstowe to Harwich. My little boy is OBSESSED with transport vehicles at the moment so he was super excited to go on a ferry for the first time 🥰

The ferry ride was a perfect 15 minute trip, where you could see sailboats and cargo ships go past ⛵️

In Harwich we spent some time watching more boats, spotting fish 🐠 and jellyfish 🪼 and got an ice cream🍦

The lightboat wasn’t open but that would definitely be worth visiting. We were lucky enough to look round the it shuts at 3 but the volunteer let us have a quick look around before they locked up. I’m always amazed at the work they do! 💙

We didn’t bring our stroller and my little boy was wanting to be carried but just a short walk away (near the lifeboat museum) there is a beach. And they have a ‘toy library’ so we borrowed a bucket and spade and spent some time playing on the beach. 🏖️

Then it was time to get our ferry back to Felixstowe and we decided to stop at Beach Street and tried 🍕

Overall the perfect afternoon/ evening out!

AI Free Content! 👀

I’m noticing how more and more accounts are using AI to write their captions and help create content. And I’ll admit I used it at first when I started TinyTotsTravelUK.

It’s quick and easy which helps when we all have busy lives. But then everything starts to feel the same. It takes away your natural voice.

So from now on I’ll be writing all my own captions and creating my own content so it feels like me. My thoughts, my feelings, my imperfect self. Not to mention how bad AI is for the environment 🌎

This week we took our little one with two of his cousins to watch Peter Rabbit as part of Theatre In The Parks at Nowton Park. 🐰

I wasn’t sure how much of the show we’d get to watch due to the ages of the children but even my 2 year old sat and watched the whole first half! 🎭 The actors were talented and the show was very entertaining. Lots of laugh out loud moments and catchy songs 🎶

The theatre company is .theatre so make sure you check them out to see if they are doing shows in your area. This one was very popular!

Today we went to Festival Of Wheels Ipswich for the first time. We were all very excited but weren’t sure how much we’d fit in from 10-1. My little boy still has a nap and we don’t need a grumpy toddler so we try to keep his nap in place when we can.

It’s quite pricey but kids under 3 do go free and you get a lot that’s included which I’ve never known before - the inflatables were great! Especially because our toddler could just hop on and off whenever he liked.

There’s a free train that takes you around the festival too which is perfect for tired legs. And there’s even a circus 🎪 which is also included in the ticket price.

We had so much fun and can’t wait to come back again next year. My main tip if you are going with a toddler is to bring a stroller, it’s a big site and toddlers are heavy to carry!

It’s easy to think you need to spend lots of money on days out and activities over the summer but there are so many things you can do for free or that don’t cost too much.

Here are some of our favourites this summer. You might notice a transport theme as my little boy loves trains, buses, tractors 🚂 🚌 🚜 etc at the moment. We also love spending time with family and playing with his cousins.

We’ve been going to swimming lessons at Abbeycroft Leisure Centre since my little boy was just 3 months old, and it’s one of the activities we’ve stuck with ever since.

Seeing his confidence in the water grow over the last two years has been so rewarding. He absolutely loves being in the pool, and I love having that dedicated time together each week. Before they turn 3, parents join them in the water, and I think it’s such a lovely way to bond while they’re learning an important life skill. When they turn 3, they move into the next stage and head into the pool with the instructor independently—which feels like such a big milestone!

The lessons at Abbeycroft are 25 minutes long, which I’ve found is the perfect amount of time to keep little ones engaged without them becoming tired or losing interest.

The lessons cost £35.50 per month, and one thing that makes them really good value for us is that your membership includes free access to all Abbeycroft swimming pools.

If you’re thinking about starting swimming lessons with your little one, I’d definitely recommend giving them a try. For us, it’s been about so much more than learning to swim—it’s become one of our favourite ways to spend time together while building a skill that will last a lifetime.

I had planned to take my little boy to a baby and toddler group today.

But this morning, he got upset and told me he wanted to stay home. So, we did.

He goes to nursery three days a week, so on the days we’re together I often feel this pressure to make memories. We already go swimming and to rugby each week, and I sometimes find myself thinking we should always be out doing something.

Today was a little reminder that maybe what he needed most wasn’t another activity.

It was trains on the living room floor, pretend cooking in his toy kitchen, cuddles with his favourite comfort teddy, and simply being together.

As parents, it’s so easy to feel like we have to fill every day with exciting plans. But our toddlers don’t always need that. Sometimes quality time at home, where they feel safe, relaxed and free to play, is exactly what they need.

And maybe we need that reminder too. 🤍
