Our first drive down to Lyford Stud to use their splendid Roberts Arena went very well.
This is what the ponies had to say
💬 Lady - Hmm! Nice comfy surface for my hooves. Plenty of room to turn the carriage. I think I can choreograph some nifty foot work round and about these strange brightly coloured obstacles. With practise I should be able to impress my participants next year.
💬 Tommy Zoom - Well there is plenty of space to show off my athletic physique, elegant paces and to continue to impress my participants with my power steering skills!

More positive news from the group - we are super proud to share that Diney passed her three yearly coach review, and Nick, one of our regular participants passed his Proficiency tests 1 and 2 driving the marvellous Tommy Zoom! Many thanks to Sarah Clunie from South Region Carriage Driving rep who visited to do both reviews.

💚🐴 We need your green tokens! 💚🐴

We’re so pleased to share that Shifford Carriage Driving Group (RDA) has been selected as one of the nominated charities in the Waitrose Wantage green token scheme for the next 3 months 🎉

If you’re shopping at Waitrose Wantage, please pop your green token into our box!

Every single token makes a difference and helps us continue providing carriage driving opportunities for our participants.

Please do share this with friends, family, and anyone local who shops at Waitrose Wantage - the more support we can gather, the better!

Great to be back as a group driving today!

With the wind a bit too strong for a drive with our lovely participants, we made the most of the session with some team training - and worked through our emergency takeout drill to keep everyone sharp and safe.

Both lady and TZ are happy to be back doing what they love best!

Join Our Friendly Carriage Driving Group!

Based in Charney Bassett, we welcome participants for carriage drives on Wednesday mornings, 10 am–12 noon, April–October. Outside these times, we practice for training and exercise.

No carriage driving experience needed—training is provided!

We are particularly in need of a couple of volunteers in possession of towing vehicles and who would be able to use our trailer to transport the group owned pony Lady from her accommodation to our driving venue (approx 2miles)

Whether you can commit every Wednesday or just occasionally, we’d love to hear from you:
