When you buy British, you can easily check the stamp on the shell. Free Range British eggs start with a ⁠1⁠ (for Free Range) followed by ⁠UK⁠ and a unique farm producer code (e.g., ⁠1UK12345⁠).

British egg producers operate under a rigorous National Control Programme for Salmonella, some of the most rigorous food safety standards in the world. As a Lion Code Accredited Farm, we go even further:

* Mandatory vaccination of all chicks and pullets against Salmonella

* Strict routine Salmonella testing every 13 weeks

* Regular audits by APHA officials, environmental health and assurance schemes

We have housed our chickens, following a APHA housing order, to reduce the risk of Avian Influenza.

I have attached a statement from APHA for everyone’s information.
APHA: Due to the escalating number and expanding area of cases of avian influenza in kept and wild birds, the AIPZ with mandatory housing measures to protect poultry & captive birds has now been extended to the whole of England for all keepers of over 50 birds and all keepers who sell or give away eggs or poultry products (even if they keep fewer than 50 birds). www.gov.uk/government/news/national-housing-order-declared-to-protect-poultry-from-avian-influenza.
