Time to get creative guys. We have allowed the chaos theory to act out in society over the past few weeks. Time to get some common sense into the equation.
Now at last we have in theory some financial stability. However, people are worrying about domestic goods and food supplies.
Now is the time to put creative actions in place and stop panic and worry about supplies. To maximise the use of resources we should use our supermarkets as logistical hubs. All our restaurants, cafes etc staff will be effectively being paid by us through the government. Lets get them cooking for communities, all of us. We have taxis, bus companies and plenty of vehicles lying about doing nothing to do deliveries.
So let's design weekly menus in each area for people to access either through social media or mail drop. These can be picked up by local contacts and taken to area control centres for planning and allocation of resources to be cooked and delivered in each area.
Having spent 20 years designing Demand Responsive Transport Systems globally the same model can work in this time of crisis.
We have the technology to coordinate these demands in most countries.
The benefits are many,
1) brings communities together
2) Maximises the use of all food and transport resources
3) reduces worry about food supplies
4) reduces the need for people to go to shops
5) keeps local businesses busy and creates jobs
6) can allow for domestic stuff like toilet rolls to be delivered to each household in a controlled way.
7) prescriptions could also be covered and delivered
8) it can cover all local, national needs in a coordinated, controlled manner
This is not rocket science. We need to reduce panic and the fear of fear.
In Scotland there are a number of Community Transport, Taxis and local government agencies with systems that could cope with the demand. At this time plenty people are looking for work and could be trained to cope with demands. Systems can be accessed from homes so no need to travel to work.
Let's do this.
