Fantastic Competent Crew / Day Skipper course this week, and pretty awesome weather too.

We nailed our in harbour work and anchorages in balmy sunshine, then ripped down to Falmouth in 6s and 7s with both Comp Crew pushing 10knots of boat speed downwind — their surfing skills turning out to be very handy. And 🐬 too! It was a pretty cool five days with Sunny Side Sailing

Tour du Finistère à la Voile 2027

Join us aboard our Sigma 35, Slipstream, for the 41st Tour du Finistère à la Voile – combining six days of competitive coastal racing around the spectacular Breton coast, with at least two Yachtmaster qualifying passages, challenging tides, tactical navigation and great après-sail with the Tour’s famously sociable stopovers.

Provisional campaign:

Friday 23 July: Assemble in Fowey and prepare Slipstream
24–25 July: Channel crossing to Brittany and registration
26–31 July: Tour du Finistère à la Voile
31 July: Final racing, prize-giving and celebrations
1 August: Return passage to Fowey
2 August: Weather reserve

✨ This trip is aimed at more experienced sailors and those looking to get into club and coastal racing. It's a full racing campaign rather than a formal RYA course. Crew will be assigned positions – Helm 2/Main, Trim, Foredeck and/or Pit, with Alex taking on and coaching navigation and tactics – working together to race Slipstream as competitively as we can. We haven’t done this event before, and we’re up for the challenge!

£1,595 per person, including around 10 days of sailing, race entry, professional skipper/instruction/coaching, onboard food, fuel and normal berthing.

We can also offer a 10% discount for returning clients or bookings of two or more places.

Oh — what could have been! 4th overall at the Contessa 32 Nationals with a 1, 3, 4, 5, 5 on the wonderful Gigi. Our Race 4, 1st place was a particular highlight — with fantastic crew work from George, Benno, Lola and Peter. And we nearly tied for 1st overall, leading Race 5 for the majority… before getting caught with no breeze mid-channel and watching the fleet catch up and overtake. A wonderful weekend though. Thanks to Eddie for the ride. It was a great way to end the Contessa season. 😀👍🏴‍☠️🦾⛵️

Thank you Sail Shape Ltd, and indeed Falmouth Boat Co., for getting us back out on the water faster than we’ve ever been. Alan’s Main and J2 are the business, the Code Zero still excellent, and the new S2 really fun to sail with.

We had a fairly novice crew on board for this one. Benno sailed with us at Cowes and has mastered the foredeck, and it was a first Coastal race for Will and Theo — both keen dinghy sailors building up experience in various roles before attempting Day Skipper.

The racing is always fun, and the experience that comes with it in terms of boat manoeuvring, sail trim, mast / foredeck work, and general seamanship really helps develop broader skipper skills.

Bravo Team Slipstream. A first overall in IRC at Flushing is an amazing achievement. 😀👍🏴‍☠️🦾
