The CalMac Community Fund is back to support non-profit organisations across our island and coastal communities.

Previously the fund has supported organisations across the network ranging from youth activities and community facilities to wellbeing, sport and music, with grants being awarded to youth clubs, carers' groups, community halls, advice services, sporting organisations and local wellbeing projects.

We visited the Isle of Arran Music School to see first-hand how previous grants have helped bring people together, create opportunities and strengthen local communities.

Each and every one of its cruelty-free bath, body and home fragrance gifts are made using natural ingredients wherever possible, prepared to the highest standards and produced with a minimal impact on the environment.

📽️ In the latest episode of Making Waves, we catch up with Angus MacPhail of Skipinnish and Robert Robertson of Tide Lines - two much-loved bands with deep connections to the islands we serve.

Angus and Robert first worked with us ten years ago to create our ‘Home on the Sea’ campaign, featuring their specially commissioned track which captured the unique connection between CalMac and the generations of people, places and communities that have shaped our story, and continue to make it what it is today.

As we bring the film and song back to mark our 175th anniversary, we caught up with Angus and Robert to reflect on the story behind the song, their personal connections to CalMac and why its message continues to resonate with them today.

A tribute to the people, places and communities that have shaped our story for generations, and continue to make CalMac what it is today.

Meet Hugh, founder of Hebridean Isle Tours, a local Stornoway business sharing the magic of Lewis and Harris for the past eight years. From ancient stones and dramatic coastlines to island culture and language, their tours offer a true taste of life in the Outer Hebrides.

Many guests arrive by ferry with CalMac, with tours planned around sailing times to help them make the most of every moment on the islands ⛴️

And it’s all made possible by the people who go the extra mile. As Hugh puts it, CalMac’s crews on board and ashore have gone above and beyond to support his business.

We’re proud to launch the CalMac Community Fund, supporting non-profit organisations across the islands and coastal ports we serve.

The fund is designed to help organisations supporting some of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged people in our communities, with funding for projects that tackle social isolation, mental health, loneliness and poverty.

Grants of between £1,000 and £10,000 are available to help local organisations make a real difference where it matters most.

📅 Applications close: Monday 16 November
