Today, 3 September, we mark Merchant Navy Day - honouring the brave seafarers who served during both World Wars and celebrating those who continue to play a vital role in keeping the UK supplied today.

Earlier, Engagement Director, Robert Morrison, represented CalMac at the Merchant Navy Day service in Leith, Edinburgh, where a wreath was laid at the Scottish Merchant Navy Memorial in memory of those lost at sea.

Thank you to all our seafaring colleagues, past and present, for the vital work you do every day to serve our customers and communities. ⚓️

100 crossings for Irene! ⛴️

Irene recently celebrated her 100th crossing on the Ardrossan–Brodick route, and the crew couldn’t let the milestone pass without a special surprise.

To mark the milestone, Irene was invited up to the bridge, where Captain Andy and colleagues surprised her with a hamper filled with treats from the ship, along with a card to commemorate the occasion. Passenger Services Manager, John Kerr, was up on the bridge when Irene was presented with her hamper, and said “she was well chuffed”.

For many onboard, Irene has become part of the Cale Isles family. A regular traveller and familiar face on the Ardrossan-Brodick route, she's well known to the crew and enjoys chatting with colleagues during her journeys.

We look forward to welcoming Irene onboard for many crossings to come!
