Travelling with a hidden disability can be challenging 🌻 Here are some useful tips!
Updated guidance:
Spain have moved away from relying on the UK-style Hidden Disabilities Sunflower lanyard as the primary recognition scheme. Instead, travelers with non-visible disabilities are encouraged to request an “Invisible Disability Badge” (Distintivo de Discapacidad Invisible) before travel. This badge is designed to be recognized by airport staff and can help passengers access appropriate support during their journey.
* The traditional green Sunflower lanyard is not universally recognized across Spanish airports.
* Aena’s Invisible Disability Badge is becoming the preferred identifier for passengers needing additional support.
* The badge is typically requested in advance and is intended for use on the day of travel.
* Airport assistance may include help through security, guidance through the terminal, and staff awareness of sensory or cognitive needs.
