Transition Loughborough

Transition Loughborough Transition Loughborough are part of a global, community driven movement promoting sustainable and eco-aware living.

We are based in the market town of Loughborough, in the east midlands of England. More here: https://transitionnetwork.org/about/ Transition Loughborough aims to help make the town more sustainable and resilient in the face of climate change and rising fuel costs. We're an open organisation made up of volunteers who run a number of projects themed around Energy, Food & Gardens, Transport, Communit

y Hearts & Minds and Skill Sharing. We’re part of a global movement and whilst the Transition movement shares common basic goals, the actual priorities and means to achieve them are driven purely by the desires of the local population. Join in with our events such as Potato Day, seed swaps, repair cafes or apple pressing. We have a community allotment where folk meet and work on Wednesday evenings. Or come to the pay-as-you-can β€˜Utilise Cafe’ at Fearon Hall, a social enterprise partnership diverting edible food that would otherwise head from the supermarkets to landfill, into delicious meals. So if you live in Loughborough and want a say in how the town can respond to the challenges facing all of us we’d love to meet you - please get involved!

We're only 142 days into the year and we have already reached the UK's πŸͺ«β

If the whole world had the same consumption patterns as the UK, we would exhaust all of the planet’s natural resources for 2026 by today.

πŸŒπŸŒβž•οΈ In fact, we would need 2.6 Earths in order to sustain this level of consumption.

How can we all be more sustainable? We need to invest in a real Circular Economy. While it's far from the only solution, by repairing and reusing our stuff instead of buying new we can reduce our impact on our planet.

Thank you to Caroline and the Loughborough Climate Vigil for arranging. Sobering stuff. πŸŒβ™»οΈ

More than 80 people attended the People's Emergency Briefing screening in Loughborough on Friday night including our local MP and a number of local Councillors from Charnwood Borough Council and Leicestershire County Council.

The film ended with stunned silence in the room. The climate crisis is a lot to face up to. But we then had a brilliant conversation about people's thoughts on what we do next locally. Between us, we have what it takes to tackle this problem and create a bright future we can all thrive in.

Want to put on your own screening? Find out more at https://www.nebriefing.org/host-the-film and let us know as we'd love to mention any Charnwood-area screenings on our page.

We were so pleased to work with Charnwood Eco Hub Transition Loughborough Barrow Greener Living Incredible Edible Loughborough, Parents for the Future Leicestershire and Communities Foundation Network to make this happen.

Our Transition Community Allotment is looking very colourful, with such a wealth of wild flowers and the broad beans, Fava beans, peas, potatoes and fruit bushes promising a good harvest.
Yesterday afternoon we weeded, watered and planted our first climbing beans, hoping that the weather will not be too harsh now. This year we want to grow as many beans as possible!

Come and see what we are doing - usually on Wednesday and Sunday afternoons after 3pm. Help us to make the most of this wonderful space at the edge of Loughborough, just next to Paget Pastures one of the last wild meadows around here.
We are at the Paget Estate allotments in King George Road - just go through the farm gate, down the path until you see the sign for Transition Loughborough.
