Calling all UK 🇬🇧 Engineers, and users of metals!! This applies to ALL Steels and non ferrous! The UK government is about to send metal prices through the roof from 1st July 2026 and then again in 1st January 2027. This is about to cripple many businesses and the engineering sector within the UK, and nobody is talking about it. This will affect everyone including end users of any metal related products, including us home engineers, plumbers, gas fitters and such.

Prices on steel and non ferrous is about to have a 50% tariff placed on it as of 1st July 2026. Any metal imported from outside the UK will get the tariff. That is all non-ferrous (the UK makes none) and 70% of all steel is imported.

Then in January the government are introducing Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) which again will inflate prices.

Either, the timeline for these changes needs extending The 60% quota reduction needs reducing The 50% tariff applied after quarterly quota exhaustion needs significant reduction The impacted commodity codes needs review & reduction Or a combination of some/all of the above

🇺🇸 U.S Shipping Back Available 🇺🇸

So we had to postpone the U.S shipping due to some tariff’s being placed upon the UK and after having many U.S customers trying to order kits (thank you) at the UK shipping rate (no thank you 🤩) I’ve sorted out the website to work on a U.S shipping rate. As the majority of orders to the United States are large weight this does reflect in the price.

All United States orders will incur a 10% tariff rate added at the checkout.

I do hope these tariffs will be eventually dropped, as we have many modelling friends over in the USA 🇺🇸!

RC444 BR (SR) Dia 1/570 20T Redoored Lamprey Ballast Wagon Kit - £11.50 +p&p

This kit is designed to make a model of the BR (Southern) Dia 1/570 20T Ballast Wagon after they had the doors replaced. We have included a coupler mounting block for Bachmann 36027 Mk2 couplings NEM shaft (cranked) with pocket.

Rebuilt 1979 from the DB991141-300 unfitted series. Some were fitted with vacuum brakes and a different form of brake levers. Specimin numbers for unfitted examples are DB991158, DB991185 & DB991192.

The kit requires standard wagon wheels on 26mm axles, bearings, couplers, paint & transfers to complete. Includes cast whitemetal buffers & Vac cylinder, etch coupler hook and buffer shrouds.
