Making friends when you travel can be a little intimidating. You’re not sure when or if you’ll ever see these new friends at all. But when I met Leara & Jarred in my 2017 Europe trip I instantly knew we’d be long term friends. ā¤ļøšŸ¤—

Good vibes do not lie! Thanks for such a lovely weekend in London you 2. Miss you & your fur babies already. 😭🐱🐈✨

It’s nice to be able to meet up with people anywhere in the world you decide on. Reunions are so fun. And now that covids lightening up, we shall all reunite!! āœˆļøšŸ‘ŒšŸ„³

Do you like making friends when you travel or do you prefer to keep to yourself?

Last nights dinner at Propaganda was lovely 🄰.. I’ve been meaning to try this place in Madrid.

It’s a wine cellar and Italian restaurant. The service was good and the vibes were on point, I recommend it if you’re in the area.

There are 2 locations -one in barrio Salamanca and 1 in barrio Chueca. We tried the one in Salamanca.

It’s one of my favorite barrios and it’s close to home hehe.

What are you up to this weekend?

Did you know Madrid is an entire region? That means it’s much more than just a city (although the city gets alll the love haha) šŸ˜

However that doesn’t mean theres not much to explore outside of the city, in fact it’s quite opposite.

There’s so much to do in the suburbs of Madrid, one of the funnest activities is hiking.

It’s the perfect city break with lots of green to lift those spirits.

Grab your reading glasses and meet me on the blog at https://travelxbritt.com/hikes-in-madrid/

Here’s a complete foodie’s guide to Lisbon šŸ‡µšŸ‡¹ Portugal’s food scene:

Here are 8 unmissable stops you should consider to eat.

šŸ˜…Save & BM for later so you have this list handy for when you travel there.

1. šŸ™ Adega Dom Luis - An authentic restaurant of Portuguese food with a friendly attentive owner. The portions are huge so go hungry.

2. šŸŽŗ Foxtrot - The best drinks in a super fun venue, cocktails are great. You can also order appetizers

3. šŸ° Pasteis de Belem - The best place in Lisbon to get the authentic Pastels de Nata. Belem district is also gorgeous so go for a stroll after getting these authentic desserts

4. šŸ„‚ Toca Da Raposa - Not that Portuguese, but a beautiful minimalistic cocktail bar with great drinks. They change their menu frequently so come with an open mind.

5. šŸŖ Time out market - A market with tons of food options but saved the day for an early breakfast (that wasn’t bakery goods)

6. 🐟 Tabuaria Do Paco - Nice portuguese restaurant with seafood options, good service, beautiful decor

7. šŸ· By the wine - A super fun wine cellar with great decor while you visit

8. šŸ„ž Fauna & Flora - Great option for Brunch, but go with time because its busy, very busy

Have you explored the food scene in Lisbon? There’s so many options! šŸ˜‹

Post cards from Lisboa šŸ‡µšŸ‡¹šŸ¤˜ EstĆ” tudo ótimo hehe .. Lisbon is one of my fav European cities bc there’s so much to do here .. just incase you’re planning on traveling here do note Portugal is taking covid very seriously .. almost every single place you walk into you need to show either a negative test result or your vaccine card. Imo this makes travelers feel extra safe.

Also the best pastel de natas in Lisbon are def def def def 100% .. We went today I got 2 and then went back for 5 😜 little slices of heaven.. try them if you come!

Have you been to Lisbon before?

How to spend the day in Chueca & MalasaƱa, 2 of the most unique barrios of Madrid:

1. Head to (Barberi location) for some American styled breakfast. (4€ pancakes on Thursday šŸ¤ÆšŸ˜‹)
If there’s any meal that is Americas forte, it’s breakfast, grab it here!!

2. Go to to learn about the historical period of Romanticism. Super pretty & very interesting to learn about. 3€ entrance - free Saturdays after 2pm.

3. Walk to malasaƱa & go thrift some threads at .. currently have a sale going on 40% off in vintage locations (50% nonvintage locations -IMO malasaƱas the best store but feel free to form ur own opinion)

Have you been to any of these barrios of Madrid?

Madrid is such an amazing place to live. But if you can’t move, come visit! It’s hard to not fall in love with this city the more time you have to explore.

Tons and tons, and tonssss of beautiful corners. Madrid is full of things waiting for you to discover.

Photo dump of a little brunch sesh at in Opera today .. such a beautiful area.

Everywhere off this metro stop it’s like 🤩🤩🤩🤩. Amazing place to go for a walk and just take in Madrid aesthetic. So beautiful. Highly recommend!

A nice day in the area can entail going for brunch and then going for a stroll to burn off what you ate.

Haha brunch can be alot of food šŸ„ž, might want that walk. šŸ˜‰

Do you brunch?

5 must read reasons why you should visit Madrid in Autumn:

1. Less crowds, beat the summer tourists (local tip - it gets insanely hot in Madrid, u don’t rly want to be here when it’s 100 degrees + Fahrenheit)

2. The parks & gardens are insanely beautiful changing colors. Make sure you check out https://travelxbritt.com/parks-in-madrid/ to learn more about parks.

3: Get to experience local fall traditions such as cocido, wild mushrooms, chestnuts, and other warm soups. šŸ˜‹

4. You get to experience the beginning of the holiday season (fun fact: madrileƱos love Xmas too!!)

5. Cheaper hotel stay since you’re not traveling during peak season. Guaranteed!

Autumn has its charm. Do you like to travel during the fall time?

Nuts for nuts 🄜 loved these candied treats!!

If hiking Camino Schmid go to the restaurant at the beg of the hike next to the ski stand.

Can’t miss it. Inside you’ll find these nut vendors where you can buy these candied nuts. They have almonds, cashews, & peanuts.

2€ each!

Love that nuts (candied or not) are soo affordable in Spain, in the states nuts & things like dates can be pretty steep.

Would you try any of these candied nuts? This was my first time seeing these vendors but I hope they stay a while & it’s not seasonal hehe. šŸ¤ž
