Summer is winding down, school has started, and weekends consist of us trying to beat the heat.

Tonight, that means a family night in watching a movie together. We are enjoying Autumn & the Black Jaguar on Prime.

It’s the story of a young girl who befriends a black jaguar in the Amazon rainforest, and, eventually, comes to her rescue. It got my wheels turns on visiting the Amazon, and what an incredible experience of nature that would be!

Your destination wedding planner & travel advisor… in the wild. 🌴

Yes, this is a vacation. No, I didn’t actually unplug. And that’s okay! Don’t get me wrong, I hold my vacations sacred (and plan a completely unplugged one at least once a year).

But this trip was always intended to be a working one. Here’s what it looked like…

Poolside room block contract reviews for upcoming weddings
Phone calls between resorts with couples dreaming up their destination weddings
And inbox (nearly) down to zero somewhere between the sunscreen reapplications.

Sacred vacation time doesn’t always mean an out-of-office reply. Sometimes it means bringing the laptop somewhere beautiful and doing what I love from a beach chair instead of a desk.

Turns out negotiating room blocks hits different with a strawberry daiquiri nearby! (J/K no import stuff happening with alcohol involved!)😘

I feel such pride and honor to call this great place home. We aren’t perfect, but step by step, day by day, we, the people, come together to move it in a direction that is better than it was yesterday.

Celebrating the 4th of July, the United States of America’s Independence Day, isn’t condoning the government, ignoring the mistakes of our history, or pretending we don’t have faults…

It’s having patriotism to the land we call home and the people we share it with, having gratitude for the strides we’ve made and mistakes we’ve overcome & corrected, honoring the people who work tirelessly to protect it and the people who work to better it, even in some small way, every single day. And there’s nothing wrong with that kind of patriotism. That’s what we need!

It’s the beauty in every place, every face that is woven into the fabric of our nation. From sea to shining sea.

My first-ever plane ride was at 26 years old. Destination: New York City. ✈️

I'm a small town Texas girl who dreamed about the big city but never actually thought I'd make it there. Then one day my husband (who has traveled the world for work) looked at me and said, "if you want to go so bad, just go."

So I did. And I planned every single minute of that 7-day trip with my mom. Every restaurant, every subway route, every "we need to be here by 9am sharp."

I've joked I was basically Clark Griswold with a trip clipboard. 😂 My mom says I walked her to death.

That trip changed the entire trajectory of my life, and I definitely don’t plan itineraries that packed anymore. 😜

Today is Juneteenth!

And to be honest, I didn’t always know what Juneteenth was about, and I’m betting some of you don’t know either… Keep reading to learn a little about this day.

Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, marks the momentous occasion when news of the Emancipation Proclamation reached enslaved individuals in Texas on June 19th, 1865, NEARLY 2 YEARS after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed.

Today, I learned that watermelon, red velvet cake, and red soda are traditionally eaten on Juneteenth because the red represents the blood shed by slaves and those who fought to free them. Don’t you just love learning new things?!

Let’s honor the resilience, strength, and courage of enslaved peoples and those who fought for freedom and equality, recognizing the triumphs and ongoing struggle for social justice. 💪🏽🌍

Some weddings are memorable because of the design.
Some weddings are memorable because of the people.
Yuri & Dean’s wedding was both. 💛

Yes, the setting was beautiful. Yes, the details came together exactly as they envisioned. But what stands out most when I think about their wedding day is who they are.

They are the kind of people who make you smile when their name pops up in your inbox. Kind, gracious, thoughtful, and genuinely appreciative throughout the entire process.

And Yuri? Absolutely stunning. The kind of bride who turns heads the moment she walks into a room, not just because of how she looks, but because of the warmth she carries with her.
